His comments are priceless smiling smiley

I'm not a RS guy, I have always liked Beatles and Death Metal. But is there a link between The Rolling Stones and Death Metal, yes it is - a gig in Stockholm as the main guy for the opening band was the one almost single-handedly inventing Swedish Death Metal - Nicke Andersson! - the originator of Entombed.

Anyway this was a great experience. I've never could dig RS recordings, but live they are GREAT! And having No Filter Pit ticket and standing on Keith Rinchards' side I could experience the whole Rock history unveiling just 4-10 m away from me as the guys always walked around near on podium.

Some things made it a little bit nervous for me in the beginning like a ban on any bags more than 15x20 and very late admittance to No Filter Pit from Keith Richards's site. We had to stand in the queue for 2 hours at least, but at least that was right before The Hellacopters set.

After a quick listen, this is the best one indeed, thanks to the taper and Hervé for the hint !smileys with beer
Though, one need to split the tracks a bit less or more than the taper did.

The Rolling Stones at Luciano's birthday party (Gelredome, Arnhem, Holland 2017.10.5)

This summer my good friend Luciano told me he wanted to see the Rolling Stones in Holland. Only problem was that the concerts in Amsterdam and Arnhem were sold out completely.
The only tickets available were not verified. I won't go into too much details, so to cut a long story short: Luciano bought an expensive but verified premium ticket.
And I bought me a premium ticket about 16 hours before the concert started :-)

Sunday was Luciano's birthday and I must say there were a lot of people at his birthday party at the Gelredome. And "the birthday band" wasn't bad at all!!!

The Premium standing places were good so we were quite close to the stage. For recording it wasn't tops though. If you have a seat you can point the microphone directly at the soundsystem, which results in a clearer sound.
I had to stick the Roland R05 in my breast pocket. (holding it up for two hours is no option)
Standing between people, getting a bit pushed by people who go to the side to get drinks doesn't make your recording better. And you hear much more talking around you then when you're seated
And last but not least: The Gelredome was built primarely for football. Not for concerts like The Ziggodome in Amsterdam. That's why the John Legend concert I shared on Dime sounds much better.
I read in a regional newspaper that people had left the Gelredome early because of "the misarable sound". Given these circumstances my recording turned out "acceptable".
But... if anyone has a better sounding recording; please share it here.

Like always: The recording was made in WAV with my Roland R05, transferred to my HD, edited and modified in Music Cleaning Lab, transferred to FLAC and uploaded here on Dime.

Setlist:

01. Sympathy for the Devil
02. It's Only Rock 'n' Roll (But I Like It)
03. Tumbling Dice
04. Just Your Fool
05. Mick Jagger talkin' Dutch
06. Ride 'Em on Down
07. Dancing With Mr. D
08. She's So Cold
09. You Can't Always Get What You Want
10. Paint It Black
11. Honky Tonk Women
12. Band introductions
13. Happy
14. Slipping Away

18. Start Me Up
19. Brown Sugar
20. Jumpin' Jack Flash

18. Street Fighting Man

Length: 90:45

Notes:
JEMS is proud to be able to partner with and present some of the choice recordings in the D & D archives. Some of these recordings have been around for years but none of the master tapes or safety copies in some cases have ever been digitized until now. Dave and Donn taped many shows in and around the Seattle area in the 70's and also were contemporaries of some of the JEMS members. Volume 3 captures the Rolling Stones on the opening night of their 1972 tour in support of their Exile On Main Street album. This recording was done on Dave's dads combo radio/tape recorder with Donn and Dave taking turns holding the mics and working the cassette deck. This an excellent recording but a little heavy on the bass. This copy is from Dave's reels, the masters may or may not still exist. It is possible Donn may still have them but they couldn't be located at this time (Sept. 2010). There were a lot firsts at this show this was the first time Rocks Off, Tumbling Dice, Happy, Torn And Frayed, Sweet Virginia, Ventilator Blues, All Down The Line and Rip This Joint were played in a live setting. This show is the only night of the tour that Torn And Frayed along with Ventilator Blues were played. Honky Tonk Women was also dropped from the set after this show to only show up at select shows as an encore. This is a great a high energy show if a little rough around the edges due to it being the opening night of the tour. The recording has been mastered for sonic enhancement.

1st gen reel from the JEMS archives of the 2nd show The Stones played this night at 7pm. It is an almost complete recording missing a little bit of Sweet Viriginia and cuts out during Street Fighting Man and is also missing the encore afterwards. As of this writing (July 2011) 'S' does not remember exactly who's master tape he dubbed at the time to reel but thinks this may be one of Mike Millard's recordings that he dubbed during a weekend dubbathon of both their master tapes in his living room.

Twenty-seven years ago I first traveled to a rock show out of my home country and that trip was to the Olympiastadion in Munich to see an old English rock band that started out in the early sixties of the last century. Would you have told me 1990 that I will be around for the full second half of their career and see them eighteen more times I would have called you crazy.

Now I was back at the Olympiastadion with some 65’000 other fans. Tickets to the pit where €799 and a seat close to the stage in front of the standing area came at €499. Even if I could pay that much I would not, and so I went with the Luck Dip lottery tickets for €65 that can end you up anywhere in the stadium and i ended up in the Pit.

The Rolling Stones blew my Mind back in the early June of 1990 and they did it now again. Seeing them up close revealed something beautiful to me and that was them having a blast. Everbody up on stage was visibly having a fantastic mood and it seemed to me that really everyone was heartfully enjoying to rock out. And yes there where imperfections, but wasn’t that always the case with the Stones? This night was not about the little imperfections, but all about the joyful little smiles between everyone who was on stage.

As it happens from time to time I came home with a little audio souvenir. But sorry, this time it’s only just a souvenir of a fan having an amazing time rockin’ along with the band in the Pit. It therefore has some imperfections, but I don’t care and I hope you don’t either too much. It was just too hard to stand still the whole time and you can hear that on the tape here and there, but I hope you’ll enjoy it anyway…

Comment by one Dime member : "By this time the pure food and drug act were gone. This is really the Harvey Mandel band"... so expect long guitar solos!

I've just had a listen to the samples on the JEMS Faces torrent and sound is very average.
Worth getting if you don't have it i guess......fwiw the Dylan JEMS is not great either.
Just my opinion.
