I've got some old Stones boots only on vinyl and I'm wondering how to convert the tracks to Mp3s or WAV files? Can someone help???

Thanks,
Steve

spbetz,

Let me know when you find out. I have been skeptical about converting lp's to cd's but then again there are some lp's like the mono version of "Forever Changes" by Love that I would love to convert to cd (albeit with at least a 320 bit rate).

Now if someone would only release "Waiting for the Sun" by the Doors on cd in mono. I know it can be done! Someone just has to do it and get the puppy circulating.

Here's hoping we find out!

You will need to connect your pc in line to your cassette deck output. When playing your vinyl you set up your stereo system as though you are taping the record. I use Audacity to record into pc. It´s free software. Don´t be put off at first. It took me several attempts. But once you got it it´s easy. Once in the pc I guess it´s up to you what to do with it. Good luck.

Personally, my advice would be to buy a 'stand alone' cd recorder. I've had a Philips one for several years & it's great (it also wasn't even expensive). I can record vinyl, cd, cassette- whatever with it, just like using a cassette recorder.
It's a bit 'fiddley' for vinyl lps, as you have to pause it between each track of a vinyl album (otherwise each side of the lp will run as one track)- but, it's worth it. Of course, then you can load it straight into 'Itunes' or whatever.
I agree with the person above- some vinyl has never made it to cd so far- like the original version of Zappa's 'Cruising With Ruben & The Jets', which I transferred to cd recently.
