Does anyone know if this site is up and running again? Also, is there a way one can see or view what items are available to DL?

Seems to be dead. No memberships available and no payments to be made. If they get their act together they did have a very useful search function but I’m not holding my breath…

My experience with guitars101 is that it often provides links to filefactory that no longer work.

I have had luck occasionally to get s link there to other sites that work. But not often.

IMHO the best bet is to just ask here on iorr. It seems that most reqs have been fulfilled.

i'm not exactly knowledgeable about this so forgive me if this is a stupid question

but would the internet archive be a good solution if file factory is really dead?

Theoretically, maybe. The PDF file of the StonesVault has 598 pages, which makes roughly 11,300 entries. Each entry x 0.7 GB would be 8 TB storage space. That's actually not much for a modern hard disk drive.

But the question is if the Internet Archive would be willing to provide this storage space for free. And a more important question would be if they would be willing to host potentially copyrighted stuff.

A solution could be that someone makes backups of the StonesVault on other, more reliable & faster hosting providers. I've asked this recently twice - [iorr.org] , [iorr.org] - but got no answer.

i'm not sure but i will say they have a tremendous amount of copyrighted stuff that stays on there for years at a time

stuff that bv would never allow to be shared on here stays on there seemingly permanently

but sometimes they get removed

there was a humongous archive of beatles videos that was stored on there for years and recently was taken down

so i don't know how suitable it would be for storing the stones vault long term perhaps it could be a temporary solution at least until a more permanent home can be found or hopefully filefactory gets it's act together

The Internet Archive has recently lost major legal battles with the book publishing and music industries. Anecdotally, when I visited recently, the items I was interested in could only be streamed, not downloaded. It might be on an artist by artist or label by label basis.

It is highly unlikely that any major label or artist would enter an agreement these days with IA to formally allow what happens on less high-profile sites (especially now that major artists are selling their entire rights for many hundreds of millions of dollars).

In the absence of one or more new, highly committed volunteers seeking to start afresh, the days of simple one-stop downloading of unofficial recordings appear to be over for a while (unless the FF suddenly gets its act together).

FileFactory works again:

Test link: [www.FileFactory.com] - (RS Chronicle - Rarest Of The Studio Outtakes). But a test download from the StonesVault - [www.FileFactory.com] - (VGP-123) had still this endless countdown loop.

great news!

hopefully the files posted before 2026 will be back up with time

if not hopefully they've finished "updating" the site (or whatever the hell has been going on) and it'll remain stable going forward

Lifetime - Same here. It said my email or password were incorrect. It wasn't. I requested a reset for the password but the link never arrived ... confused smiley

Maybe FF has some issues gain. While my test links from above (partly) worked on 02-Apr-2026 in free mode, they're currently not working.

I noticed that Irix's test link says 'Premium account needed'. I googed "is the current premium filefactory account the same as a lifetime account". AI said no. Apparently Premium requires a rolling subscription whilst 'Lifetime' was a one off payment.
Many complaints about Lifetime accounts not being honoured. ... confused smiley

On 02-Apr-2026, this download worked in free mode with full speed. Maybe the FF restrictions weren't activated at that time.
