POST: 1978 American Tour series Vol 05 - 17/06/78 - PHILADELPHIA

THE ROLLING STONES

10th June - 26th July 1978
North American Tour.

In this series we concentrate on audience recordings, leaving out the rehearsals, and of course the official recordings. KBFH-recordings will only be used for merges or matrix recordings.

Thanks to the people who recorded and shared these shows and also to my accomplices nzb and BlueTurns2Grey who gave me the benefit of their advice and support.
BlueTurns2Grey will be posting his video reworks simultaneously.

Line-up: MJ (voc, gtr, p)/KR (gtr, voc)/RW (gtr, pedal steel)/BW (bass)/CW (dr)/STU (p)/Ian McLagan (p, org, bvoc)
Volume 05
17th June 1978
(PHILADELPHIA)

17th June 1978: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, John F. Kennedy Stadium

For this show we have two sources :
Source #1 can be found on «Live At JFK Stadium‘78» (VGP 336) and «Philadelphia 1978» (APP 098), both are lossy audience recordings.
Source #2 can be found on «78th Nervous Breakdown» (S-Hole Records) and «JFK Philadelphia» (DAC 078), both are good lossless audience recordings (the DAC version run +1,6 % faster than the S-Hole version).
Most interesting was to merge both sources and use them to get the most complete recording.
The DAC version is used as speed reference and is on the left channel and the VGP version is on the right.
As usual the recordings are de-clicked, balanced and phase adjusted,

CD1 :
01 - introduction
comes from source #2
02 - Let It Rock (merged)
in the final banter, I compensate a half second in source #2
03 - All Down The Line (merged)
04 - Honky Tonk Women (merged)
05 - Star Star (merged)
06 - When The Whip Comes Down (merged)
in the final banter, I compensate one second in source #1
07 - Miss You (merged)
08 - Just My Imagination (merged)
09 - Respectable(merged)
in the final banter, I used a 2 second patch coming solely from source #2
10 - Beast Of Burden (merged)

CD2 :
01 - Far Away Eyes (merged)
the first 3 seconds come from source #2
02 - Love in Vain (merged)
because of a gap in source #2, I used a patch from 5’23 until 5’39 from source #1
03 - Shattered (merged)
04 - Satisfaction (merged)
in the final banter, I compensate a half second in source #1
05 - Sweet Little Sixteen (merged)
06 - Tumbling Dice (merged)
only the first 24 seconds and the final banter are merged, the rest was missing in version #2 and comes solely from source #1
07 - Happy (merged)
08 - Brown Sugar (merged)
09 - Jumpin' Jack Flash (merged)
10 - outro
come from source #2

As usual all the infos are coming from Nico Zentgraf's Rolling Stones Complete Works Database: [www.nzentgraf.de]

Thank You very much StonyRoad!
An improvement of a show, I listened to many times.
Stisfactipn was included as a single on my first Passaic Vinyl.

thanks, sounds great

i have a thousand bootleg concerts of The Stones, like many of us.

But this merge is actually now one of my favorites, having been to this show, and hearing such higher fidelity and in stereo, thanks again
