Audio files and Bluray rip (Updated and closed)

Hi,

To get the best audio converted file from a Bluray I want to know how do you rip it ?
Do you rip it from the m2ts file and then converted it ? And if so which format do you use ?
I know it has been already discussed, but some softwares are getting old very quickly now, and I'm getting lost.

Yes, rip the entire BR first, e.g. with DVDFab, MakeMKV or similar: [en.Wikipedia.org] . Go into the ripped BDMV folder and there into the STREAM folder. From the matching m2ts file, extract the audio with eac3to. A common format would be FLAC. Since eac3to cannot split the file into tracks, you have to do it (semi-)manually with a sound editor like e.g. Audacity. Add the meta-data like Artist, Trackname, Cover etc. via the MP3tag tool.

I copy the bluray to HD with MakeMKV (just copy, I make no MKV file). Then I demux the audio from the m2ts file with tsMuxerGUI. The result is a 48 (or 96) kHz wav file which you can process further as you like.

Thanks guys for the infos.I will be more explicit below...

@irix
I have DVD Fab version 12 it work fine to extract the m2ts.
On Soundforge 14 there is a output format called .w64 which seems to work, it play fine with VLC and when you listen to it very similar to the original 5.1 Audio, when I convert it to uncompressed flac files it seems to my ears that it's not the same mix, only the stereo.
I ask because I think there is more details in this bluray version ??? I can be wrong though, I'm not an audio master.

@WAN
I will try MakeMKV and the Muxer and will tell if it's ok.Thanks.

Choose the stereo PCM track of the m2ts file in eac3to or tsMuxeR (not the 7.1 TrueHD, 5.1 DD track or similar).

Have a look at "Music Media Helper Tools".
Extract the Audio from mkv, it is very recommended!

It`s nice to be here, .....

It would be very cool to be able to rip the 5.1 tracks as six separate tracks, then mix the tracks in Audacity.

The eac3to tool can save the ripped surround sound into separate tracks.

Several ways of doing it, so here's one using ffmpeg: After ripping the audio that includes the 5.1 audio you then do this to split the 5,1 audio into their own track. Example shows that your flac file name would be yourAudio.flac

ffmpeg -i yourAudio.flac -filter_complex "channelsplit=channel_layout=5.1[FL][FR][FC][LFE][BL][BR]" -map "[FL]" front_left.wav -map "[FR]" front_right.wav -map "[FC]" front_center.wav -map "[LFE]" lfe.wav -map "[BL]" back_left.wav -map "[BR]" back_right.wav
