POST: Knebworth 1976, all 6 sources
Posted by: wiredallnight ()

I finally got my fast fiberglass internet after a long wait here in Germany. So I could upload this in a few minutes now...

Knebworth 1976, all existing sources (except for the mono video soundtrack):

1. Hot August Night 2 LP stereo soundboard
2. Route 76 LP (tracks put in correct order)
3. Stoned Stones 2 LP, 3 sides only, side 4 is other stuff
4. Stones Tour Mop Up 2 LP
5. The Complete Knebworth Shaved Disc 2 CD
6. The Midnight Ramblers In The Midnight Hour Tarantura 2 CD new source only

The last source is incomplete, Tarantura filled up the missing parts and songs from other sources. Since these other sources are also included in this post, I have removed them from the Tarantura source and include only the incomplete new source. Exactly it's the 3 "patches" from the following text that I removed.

From the artwork of this Tarantura release:

"Almost the complete show reconstructed from various audience sources.

The master tape of a previously uncirculated audience source has been used for the majority of the concert.

This new source was missing three sections of the concert which have almost entirely been patched from other sources.
These three sections and the sources are detailed below:

Patch 1 - spoken 'Ladies and Gentlemen...' intro and the start of Satisfaction
- first 40 seconds of the concert - a different audience source is used to fill the very start of the concert which was not recorded by the new audience source.

Patch 2 - from the end of Hot Stuff to the start of Fool To Cry
- 58 seconds of the soundboard source is used to fill a tape flip in the new audience source (no other audience source of this section of the show is known to exist).

Patch 3 - last half Honky Tonk Women (including Country Honk) > Tumbling Dice > Happy > Nothing From Nothing > Outa-Space > start of Midnight Rambler
are all missing from the new audience source. This section is 19:31 minutes in total. Each of these 7 songs have been sourced from various other poorer sounding audience sources
(Stones Tour Mop Up except Happy from Shaved Disc).

So, this is a kind of complete experience of this legendary show.
I still have my first vinyl boot of the show with an audience recording on three sides and several tunes from other shows.
Thank you very much wiredallnight!

Nice work wired. The Midnight Ramblers In The Midnight Hour is my recording.

I was totally knackered by the time they came on as I'd be out in the field for 26 hours by the time they came on. I'd spent the night outside the ground but didn't get much sleep. Heh heh.

I missed a few tracks but the patch is good. I was stood slightly to the right and picked up a very Keith heavy sound. Never heard anything like it since. For the Keith spotters it's great because you can clearly hear his contribution.
