THE ROLLING STONES
IBERIAN LICKS Series
A part of the Licks Tour devoted to the Iberian Peninsula
(25th June – 29th September 2003)
This project was initiated by the study of video reports attributed to Benidorm and Zaragoza. Since we had to compare them with recordings of other Spanish shows, we decided to offer this mini-series dedicated to the Iberian Peninsula (as we added the show and the reports from Coimbra, Portugal). These TV report excerpts will be presented simultaneously by BlueTurns2Grey, who reworked them.
Thank you to the people who recorded these concerts and shared them. Thank you to my regular accomplices, especially nzb and BlueTurns2Grey, for their expertise, support, and advice.

Volume 04
BENIDORM
25th September 2003
25th September 2003: Benidorm, Spain, Estadio Municipal Foietes
Note: Without Bobby Keys.
A version of this show is circulating, and I've already reworked it for Frankenstein Productions Volume 005.
Recently we studied excerpts from Spanish television reports and took a closer look at the origin of the audio recordings. The first part is a fake, and only the recordings, starting with "Tumbling Dice," are definitely from Benidorm. Here's what we found:
Wronly dated & located:
Intro: from Barcelona
Brown Sugar: from Barcelona
You Got Me Rocking: from Barcelona
Don’t Stop: from Barcelona
Miss You: is not an Iberian show: and stayed unidentified but is not Benidorm because before the sax solo, MJ is saying ‘Alright Bobby… come on’
Ruby Tuesday: from Toronto (30/07/2003) except the last minute coming from Barcelona
You Can’t Always Get What You Want from Barcelona
Paint It Black unidentified but the last 30 seconds are from Barcelona
Tumbling Dice – part 1 (46 first seconds) from Barcelona
Jumping Jack Flash – part 2 after 4’09 (more of 5 minutes coming from Barcelona)
We're reintroducing the Benidorm titles after slightly improving them compared to volume FP 005: the phase has been improved (thanks Captain!)
I found a little gap in the video source: I decided to rebuild the song using both sources.
CD1:
01 - Tumbling Dice (faded in)
02 - band introduction
03 - Slipping Away
04 - Before They Make Me Run
05 - Sympathy For The Devil
06 - Walk to the B
07 - Mannish Boy
08 - It’s Only Rock’n Roll
09 - Street Fighting Man
10 - Gimme Shelter
11 - Honky Tonk Women
12 - Start Me Up
13 - Satisfaction
14 - encore break
CD2:
01 - Jumpin' Jack Flash
02 - outro
As explained before, in the audio source, only the first part of “Jumpin' Jack Flash” comes from Benidorm.
This part, until 4’09, is now merged with a video posted at YouTube by ‘OliverW’ (see FP 004) which bring also the 2nd part of the song and the outro..
BONUS:
To make this volume more interesting, we have decided to include several bonuses: these are excerpts from reports from Spanish television (they will be presented by BlueTurns2Grey separately):
I°] 25th September 2003: Benidorm, Spain, Estadio Municipal Foietes
03 - Brown Sugar (0’43)
04 - Ruby Tuesday (0’32)
II°] 29th September 2003: Zaragoza, Spain, Feria de Muestras
05 - You Got Me Rocking (0’55)
06 - Ruby Tuesday (2’29)
These audio versions will be used by BlueTurns2Grey for his video compilation.
As usual all the infos are coming from Nico Zentgraf's Rolling Stones Complete Works Database: [
