THE ROLLING STONES
IBERIAN LICKS Series
A part of the Licks Tour devoted to the Iberian Peninsula
(25th June – 29th September 2003)
This project was initiated by the study of video reports attributed to Benidorm and Zaragoza. Since we had to compare them with recordings of other Spanish shows, we decided to offer this mini-series dedicated to the Iberian Peninsula (as we added the show and the reports from Coimbra, Portugal). These TV report excerpts will be presented simultaneously by BlueTurns2Grey, who reworked them.
Thank you to the people who recorded these concerts and shared them. Thank you to my regular accomplices, especially nzb and BlueTurns2Grey, for their expertise, support, and advice.

Volume 01
BILBAO
25th June 2003
(compilation from 2 sources)
25th June 2003: Bilbao, Spain, Estadio San Mames
For this show, there are 3 sources in circulation:
Source #1 can be found on 'Body Licks' (ROTH 140/141) or 'Licks In La Catedral' (AMM). The recording is lossless and complete, but the sound is distant and there are some bumps due to overdriven bass.
Source #2 can be found on 'Live In San Mames' (SRS Records). The sound is a little better than source #1, but 'Like A Rolling Stone' is incomplete. The spectrum is a little limited, but the recording seems lossless.
This second source is the one you'll find on this volume, supplemented, for 'Like A Rolling Stone', by source #1. The right channel is a little overdriven. Now the recording is de-clicked, the channels are more balanced (+5% to +10% for the left channel), the transitions between the tracks are reworked and the phase is upgraded.
A 3rd partial source exists taken from a couple of TV reports broadcast by Spanish TV.
CD1:
01 - Brown Sugar
02 - Start Me Up
03 - You Got Me Rocking
04 - Don’t Stop
05 - Angie
06 - You Can’t Always Get What You Want
07 - Can’t You Hear Me Knocking
(between the tracks, because of a gap in source #2, I used a 26 second patch coming from source #1)
08 - Tumbling Dice
09 - band introduction
10 - Slipping Away
11 - Before They Make Me Run
CD2:
01 - Sympathy For The Devil
02 - I Just Want To Make Love To You
03 - Street Fighting Man
04 - Like A Rolling Stone
(it was cut abruptly at 0’45 in source #2, the rest is coming from source #1)
05 - Gimme Shelter
06 - It’s Only Rock’n Roll
07 - Honky Tonk Women
08 - Satisfaction
09 - Jumpin' Jack Flash
10 - outro
(coming from source #1 because it reproduces much better the hot atmosphere from the show)
BONUS:
As bonus I added the merged tracks I did using the partial Spanish TV newscast (Antena 3 - ‘Noticias’) which were uploaded on YT by Otto Mesache. BlueTurns2Grey will also present in his video compilation (separately).
The video source is on the left channel and the previous audio on the right.
11 – Brown Sugar (merged)
0 to 0’12 coming solely from TV report then merged until 2’14 then only audio (SRS) until the end (duration 4’39)
12 – Start Me Up (merged)
0 to 2’12 merged with SRS then only audio from SRS until the end (duration 4’32)
As usual all the infos are coming from Nico Zentgraf's Rolling Stones Complete Works Database: [
