One of the nicest things about IORR is how much we are able to depend on the kindness of strangers. It a great improvement from the days of paying for cassette copies and exacting one for one cdr trades. You come here and find something new all the time. It's like buying a lottery ticket. Even if you lose it gives you pleasure for awhile. Or you can put something up and see that hundreds of strangers have downloaded it to enjoy. I prefer that atmosphere to making people beg.

TravellinMan, nice words and great video. But of course we're not all alike. Personally I love sharing my collection wherever I can. I can't give away my rare records but I love showing them off to people that share an interest. Makes it fun.

My suggestion is born from folks wanting specific shows taped, but being unable to tape themselves. One suggestion is to buy a local taper a ticket to record it for you.

Traveling Boy you seem to call all of us tapers bootleggers. Seneca IS NOT a bootlegger. Neither an I. If we were you would have downloaded our recordings from silvers. If anything, we are the opposite of that. You don't get it and part of the problem not the solution. Just stay in your basement.

What some people don't get is I used to share everything. I didn't like my recordings being sold for obvious reasons and was told to STFU, if I release it I have no say. So, now I don't and get grief because I am not sharing with the same people who told me to STFU. Many of these are the same people.

daspyknows, I hope you're not talking about me. In the past I did say some things about people dangling sweets in front of our faces and not sharing. That was my complaint. I do remember seeing some downloads from you in the past, so thanks for that. As far as the back and forth goes there's been a shift from against buying bootlegs to sharing. Now sharing seems to have gone away. I can appreciate the frustration in all this. Also, I hope you didn't think I was one of those that told you to STFU. I do remember 2 sides of the argument/discussion though. And I can agree it must be upsetting to find someone sell your recordings. Anyhow, good luck to you. Cheers!

Hope you are enjoying your time in Europe. You and Senaca are bootleggers. But I don't think of that negatively. Please don't feel badly. I do not knowingly possess and tapes from Seneca. By that I mean that I searched my records and got no hits. I did find two items that had dapsyknows on them. I was tempted to add a ukulele track and post them as mp3s. But the idea was enough for me. I tossed them to avoid temptation. Seriously, I dumped them. It would help me if you and Seneca would list the boots that you feel ripped you off. I like to post and share what I download to fill out my collection and I promise not to knowingly share your and Seneca's stuff. Honest. But if I post anything you might like go ahead and take it. As an example, any of Daspyknows recordings of Eric Clapton and w/ Steve Winwood have been picked up and released by both Beano and EVSD/Mid Valley over the years. They have even highlighted it on certain issues of the artwork as a Daspyknows recording/source when there are other sources to make up a two source release.

I'll disagree with this, although it might just be semantics.

Bootleggers means selling recordings.

Neither Daspy nor I sell recordings.

We tape shows. I prefer the title of taper. Although even that's a bit funny semantically, as we don't use tape as a recording medium anymore.

I know some folks who don't tape, but still sell recordings. I would call those folks bootleggers.

However, if you want to use a different definition of bootlegger, you're more than welcome to your own opinion.

I would echo Daspy's point. I think the two of us would freely share more if there wasn't the high likelihood that the shared recordings would fall into the hands of bad actors (aka bootleggers) who try to profit from the recordings.

I'm not adverse to the general argument of "If you're not going to share, then don't show off on your recordings." I don't always follow that because I'm petty sometimes, but I understand that basic point as a human being.

Thank you senecastj. Maybe I had you mistaken. I'm certainly not without faults. Add to that sometimes misunderstandings of how messages are written and conveyed.

I think both of us have shared most or all of our recordings. Its just the degree of sharing. There is a circle of friend (many of which are tapers) who have access to everything I have recorded because there is trust in what will be done with the recordings. What will be done is they will listen to it if they want, nothing else. I will also share any recording I have made with any of the artists in the band. In many of these cases I am taping with "permission" at subsequent shows. I also have thousands of hours of recordings that others have made that they don't want shared publicly. I respect their wishes as they do mine.

MetLife 2 was a great gig; I also feel that MetLife 1 was great - I really enjoyed 'Wild Horses' that night.
