POST: Mick TAYLOR 1992-93 North American Shows Vol 08a – 19th September 1992 – SAN DIEGO (2 sources)
MICK TAYLOR Band
Feat. Jimmie Wood
1992-93 North American Shows
In 1992 and 1993, Mick Taylor played with a group including Jimmie Wood. After two previous series dedicated to European and Japanese shows, we now offer you this new series to complete this period with the shows played in North America.
Thanks to those who recorded and shared their recordings.
Nzb brought in his recordings and knowledge, and BlueTurns2Grey will create a
companion series by compiling the best available video footage and synchronizing it with the
audio files that I have reworked.
Reviews of many Mick Taylor concerts can be found on GimmeMT.com.
19th SEPTEMBER 1992
SAN DIEGO
19th September 1992: San Diego, California, ‘11th Annual Adams Avenue Street Fair
And Free Fall Festival’
Line-up: MT (gtr, voc)/Jimmie Wood (voc, harm, gtr)/Jimmy King (gtr, bvoc)/Greg Boaz (bass, bvoc)/David Salinas (dr)
This show appears in different audio and versions and also on 2 videos.
For the audio, some versions are lossless, others lossy, some are in stereo and others in mono, some complete and others not…
My favorite versions are the ones uploaded by:
- ‘Kingrue’ at The Traders Den in 2019: I call it “source #2”
- ‘hankhill’ at Dimeadozen in 2008: I call it “source #3”
(see the original infos in the ‘docs’ file)
These recordings are incomplete: the start of “Shake Your Hips” and the end of the show are missing.
“Source #1” comes from a complete video of the show. It’s sometimes claimed to be a soundboard… but isn’t: it’s a good lossless monophonic audience recording.
“Source #4” corresponds to another mono version from an incomplete video and which is not so interesting.
I plan to upload 2 versions:
Vol 08a will be a mixed version to get the more complete recording with the best quality.
Vol 08b will be a merged version to get a better sound. This is the version which BlueTurns2Grey will use for a video that he will upload simultaneously.
VOLUME 08a:
This version combines different sources to get a most complete recording.
The best one is “source #3”: it’s now declicked and amplified. After track 5, the channels had to be re-equilibrated (+20% for the left channel).
For the complement I used “source #1” but not from my video copy (which is lossy) but from cd-rs (illustrated by my friend Mr No., cf. the docs file) which have a better spectrum. Unfortunately, in all versions, the intensity of the sound varies constantly and the result is unpleasant.
CD1:
01 - tuning & intro
02 - Badmouth Mama
03 - Hoodoo Thing
04 - How It Feels
05 - You Shook Me
the last 12 seconds are from the source #1
CD1:
01 - Shake Your Hips
the first 7 seconds are from the source #1
02 - You Don’t Miss Your Water
03 - You Gotta Move
04 - band introduction #1
05 - Cairo Motel
06 - band introduction #2 & encore break
the last 49 seconds are from the source #1
07 - Teresa
from the source #1
08 - outro
from the source #1
