POST : Charlie WATTS & Bill WYMAN coming together for benefit-concerts Vol 10b – 8th December 1983 (ARMS in NYC I) merged version
Bill WYMAN and Charlie WATTS
Coming together
for A.R.M.S
(Action into Research for Multiple Sclerosis)
Benefit-concerts
(20th September – 9th December 1983)
This series presents the shows in which Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts teamed up in 1983 to support a string of charity concerts (2 in London and 9 in the US). Our original intention was to present the A.R.M.S. shows (see below) but since the players (and the songs played) were almost the same for the charity gala organized for the Prince Of Wales Trust on September 21 we decided to include it in this series.
In 1983, Ronnie Lane’s girlfriend Boo Oldfield contacted Glyn Johns with a view to organizing a concert to help fund Action for Research into Multiple Sclerosis. Johns was already arranging Clapton's Command Performance for Prince Charles so they decided to book the Royal Albert Hall for a further two nights and host a benefit concert. The first ARMS Charity Concerts (and initially planned to be the only) event took place at the Royal Albert Hall on September 20, 1983, with subsequent dates occurring in the United States, with slightly different lineups of musicians.
Thanks to those who recorded and shared their recordings, to BT2G for his suggestions and the available video versions he will add to complement this series and to nzb for his irreplaceable help.

For this show we have 3 sources:
Two good quality and lossless audio sources (the first one that we found on the version of ‘Beano’ is my favorite).
The 3rd source is the video. It is incomplete: the first 5 tracks and the last 2 are missing (‘Goodbye Irene’ on the video is from December 9!).
The merging tests with the 2 audio sources are interesting but those using the audio of the video are even better.
We offer you 2 versions:
Vol 10a: complete version using the 1st source.
Vol 10b: also complete that contains
- a merge of the 2 audio sources for the 5 tracks missing from the video
- a merge of source #1 and the audio of the video: this version will be used by
BlueTurns2Grey in his video reworking project.
Vol 10b:
Here you will find the merged version.
I used as reference the audio rip coming from the video (on the left channel) merged with the source #1 (in the right channel, decelerated by -0,11% to be in synch).
Because the video is incomplete, for the missing tracks, I merged source #1 (left channel) with source #2 (right channel decelerated by -1,92%).
All sources are declicked.
