I finally got around listening to the three CDs, what a fantastic set. I dare say that most of the earlier takes were better than the final, refined versions. And I love all the songs that were rejected.

Steel Wheels was an amazing comeback album with many great songs, evidence of how strong the Stones still were as a music producing unit. Those of us who suffered through the long, silent, tourless period in the 1980s and the threatening solo careers give this album to this day an even greater importance -- hence also the gratitude for this additional collection.
