POST: Mick TAYLOR 1986 North American Tour Vol 09 – 1986.08.03 – CAMBRIDGE (2nd show)

My advice: DON’T MISS THIS ONE !

Mick TAYLOR
1986 North American tour.
24th July - 22nd August:
(around 30 shows in less than a month!)

This new series is dedicated to a really special tour of Mick Taylor because it was his first with his own band, as a headliner and not as a band member. It is also special because, perhaps under the influence of singer and bassist Roger Troy, it contains a great variety of songs not played on any other tours.
Thanks to those who recorded and shared their recordings and to nzb for his irreplaceable help.
Reviews of many Mick Taylor concerts can be found at GimmeMT.com.

Volume 09:
3rd August 1986
CAMBRIDGE
(Nightstage – 2nd show)
2 sources

3rd August 1986: Cambridge, Massachusetts, Nightstage (2nd show)
Line-up: MT (gtr)/Roger Troy (voc, bass)/David Bennet Cohen (keyb)/Colin Allen (dr)

For this show our versions are different.
The one from nzb (source #1), coming from Dime, has a slightly more muted sound and is centered on the guitar. On my version (source #2) the sound is more spacious and you can hear the other musicians much more, especially the piano and the voice.
The merging of the two gives a very interesting result! The guitar is on the left channel (source #1) and the other instruments more on the right channel (source #2): this gives a stereo effect that allows you to appreciate all of Mick Taylor's talent! Each version was first reworked (equalized, declicked, phased, defects removed, etc.) then the two sources were mixed and used to complement each other after being synchronized.

An excellent concert that should not be missed by any blues or guitar fan... and even more so by any Mick Taylor fan!

01 - tuning (merged)
except 5 first seconds coming solely from source #1
02 - Anna Lee
03 - I’m A Blues Man
a microgap is now patched in the 2nd source (right channel)
04 - Your Friends-Sweet Little Angel
05 - band introduction #1 & banter
06 - Bad Boy
07 - Sweet Home Chicago (merged)
except from 6’09 to 6’17coming solely from source #1
at 3’44 a microgap is now patched in the 2nd source (right channel)
08 - Baby What You Want Me To Do
after 3’40 the 2nd part of the song (2’33!) is coming solely from source #2
09 - band introduction #2 and encore break
it’s coming solely from source #2 until 1’52, then it’s merged
10 - Going Down-Lucille-Reelin’ And Rockin'
11 - outro (not merged)
coming solely from source #2
