I have these 2 Keith recordings, "Don't Be Cruel" and "When My Little Girl Is Smiling" and cannot find for sure where they come from: [we.tl]

According to Felix Aeppli both are recorded by Keith solo in May 1983 at The Hit Factory, New York City (but only probably). However N. zentgraf says that "When My Little Girl Is Smiling" is from the Undercover sessions 1st - 19th December 1982, but also unsure. I cannot even fint that "Don't Be Cruel" on the Zentgraf site (it is not to be confused with a version from the Dirty work Sessions 1985!).

Does anyone have an idea?

I don't believe that...this were known by our experts!!
but on the CD Learning the game are two time Versions..
first: running time ca 2:55 min with a short announcement...
second : ca 2:08min. faded out

Yes, Don't Be Cruel was first released on vinyl Learning The Game: [www.discogs.com]
They put it on there twice, at the beginning of Side 1 and at the end of side 2, no one knows why. It's both the same version.

I've listened and compared again and again and I tend to agree at least for "Don't Be Cruel". It fits to the other songs from this session: Only Keith's vocals and a piano.

That's what I thought. Keith's voice on Don't Be Cruel sounds very similar to the the other songs of that session. Also the piano and the echo when he talks between the songs.
One reason why When My Little Girl... might also come from this occasion is, that I received this song together with All I Have To Do Is Dream in the early 80ies. Unfortunately, I didn't make notes about the date when I received these tracks.

I once suspected that 'When my little girl is smiling' was a song from the honeymoontapes (1983), like other pop-tunes there. But Nico Zentgraf convinced me it was from a different recording session, possibly (but unsure) from December 1982 (Paris).

By the way... Is there a better recording of "When My Little Girl Is Smiling"? The one I have is quite distorted.
