What was up with the production of Neighbors?

One of my fav songs from tattoo you, but man did they mess with it in the studio. (In a good way imo) But Its fascinating to hear whatever production magic they worked on this for the official version. It seems to be the same drum/guitar/vocal tracks. But they phased out the hi hats and cymals for the drums until the final verse?? Except not really when you hear the hi hats on 2 and 4 and the 2and and 4and. And used crazy samples for the snare? Msybe they combined multiple drum takes? I honestly love it it sounds so punk and unique but this original track is also great in its own way! Kind of slept on track, I get it cause Jaggers vocals are a little harsh, but man this goes hard.. the snare roll (in the official) at 2:12 is insanely cool.. but also kinda sounds like samples.. How do you think they did this and do you prefer this original recording or the studio version?

I'll take a stab.Neighbors and Waiting on a friend used the same effect. Overall your are correct that for studio Neighbors there's an effect. I'll assume both songs used a reverb. Which one is beyond me. Not slap back echo, but something else? Others might know, but not me. Killer song and video overall.
Prime Stones for me. Left a lasting impression on me on what a cool and Rock band was suppose to be.....I'm was 10 in 1981, so consider that before the lovely comments...
