Help

Hi to everyone
I have been downloading quite a few concerts and studio stuff posted on this forum - Thanks again for posting
I now would like to become proactive by posting some concerts using wetransfer-
I have close to 1 terabyte of the Stones that I would like to share - most are on m4a as they occupy little space - about 250/350 MB per concert

My problem is quite simple
what do I have to do to share my music ???

Thanks for the help
James

Check before uploading/posting if it was already stored in the StonesVault - [iorr.org] , [iorr.org] .

Look at the threads and see if someone asks: “Can you upload this on WT ?”

And before uploading, have a look into the WT settings and set the storage time to 7 days.

If you can afford to spend $109/£84/€100, you could buy 2TB storage space at [Mega.io] for a whole year. Main advantage is the fast download speed.

On Mega.io there's also 20GB for free. With (multiple) account(s) you could upload it in batches and e.g. rotate it monthly. WT for free is max. 7 days and re-uploading might be necessary if someone has missed it.

The paid WeTransfer Pro version is €120 for 1TB per year.

Hightail unlimited space for $15/month. That is where I keep my recordings backed up in the cloud and redistribute links. With Mega only those who pay get fast download speeds as I understand it. No such limitations on hightail.

No, that's not true. Try it by yourself: [iorr.org] .

If you can dump a listing of your 1TB music folder contents (pretty simple in Windows and Mac) someone might be able to create a concise listing using computer magic. The crowd can then help identify rare gems for uploading somewhere. Uploading everything is probably quite burdensome and likely unnecessary.

I have and received messages of throttled speeds unless I signed up in the past. Not sure if its file size related but digging through a page of outtake links (mp3 or otherwise) is not of any interest here and 125mb file isn't going to take a long time either way. Just providing another option that I use.

I've downloaded from Mega.io an 10 GB video file now and had ca. 5 MB/s dl-speed without sign-up or messages of throttled speed. And in my posts above, I was also just providing options that can be used.

For comparison: the FileFactory dl-speed in free mode is only 0.05 MB/s.

Do you already have the appropriate online storage space? Did you upload e.g. 20 GB as a test to see how long it takes? What's the upstream speed of your internet connection?

I think you want to know how to create a text file showing all the music on your external drive. (Note that if you have things other than music on that drive, you could possibly be revealing personal information so first make sure it's just all music.)

Click on the icon for the drive on your desktop. This will open a Mac finder window and reveal all the folders and files at the top level of the drive.

Using the Finder's EDIT drop-down command at the top left of the screen, choose SELECT ALL. Then do it again and choose COPY.

Then in the same way PASTE it into a new document in your favorite word processor software. TextEdit and Word work great.

If each recording/show is in its own folder, you will get an output of your folder names (presumably identifying each show/recording), like:

Banksville NY 1988-05-29 Krypton
Barrie CA 1988-06-17 Molson Park
Berlin 1997-12-21 Quasimodo

There are many ways to create a listing of directory/drive contents, depending on how you have the shows organized folder-wise and what metadata you want to show (file sizes, creation dates, file names etc.). Your directory organization structure might require you to do a "recursive" search that goes down into each sub-directory.

In my view a list of the shows would be a great starting point. Most will probably be "commons" and people will seek out the rare ones.

If your question is how to upload 1 TB of music somewhere, I'll leave that to others with experience.

You could create for free a 20 GB account at Mega.io and upload your list file. Then you could also upload with no time limit 20 GB of your bootlegs, which would be the most interesting.

It will take a while. Ideally you have a fiber connection. In the old dial up days only Keith would still be around. Just at home I am transferring my old (full) NAS with 104TB to a new one with a capacity of 160 and it is taking a long time.

maidenlane hi - via mail I am sending you the list with all the titles - from my stand point I just would like to use this list to publish any request that come via this forum - but first look at the list and let me know if you have any question - thanks
