Mick Taylor before the Stones with
JOHN MAYALL’S BLUESBREAKERS
(1967-1969)
This series is dedicated to the late great John Mayall (29/10/1933 Macclesfield, Cheshire, England – 22/07/2024 Los Angeles, CA) who can be considered as one of the pillars of the UK blues as a musician, author and talent scout. In this series we present recordings from Mick Taylor's first two years with him, before he left for the Rolling Stones (although he later returned a couple of times to John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, notably in 1982-1984 and in 2004)!
Thanks to those who recorded and shared their recordings, to nzb for his irreplaceable help, to BT2G for inspiration.
Reviews of many Mick Taylor concerts can be found at GimmeMT.com.

Volume 08:
complements

Part I: 2nd January 1969: London, England, Marquee
Broadcast 19 January, 1969 on French TV (ORTF 1) in ‘A l'affiche du Monde' in a report "Blues à Londres"
Line-up: MT (gtr)/John Mayall (voc, harm, org)/Steve Thompson (bass)/Colin Allen (dr)
01 - Long Gone Midnight
02 - Walking On Sunset
03 - Worried 'Bout You Baby -with Dick Heckstall-Smith on sax
I ripped this version from the INA (French TV archives: it’s more complete as the official version, with a French introduction of John Mayall (here attenuated) and it’s lossless but mono.

Part II: 21st May 1969: Berlin, West-Germany, Kongresshalle
Line-up: MT (gtr)/John Mayall (voc, harm, keyb, gtr)/Steven Thompson (bass)/Colin Allen (dr)
04 - unidentified song (‘Got A Pretty Baby’)
05 - banter
06 - Time Has Come
These two songs were not in the official recording but appeared in the version sent by nzb. They have not been kept probably because they were altered… but now they are reworked
In particular in ‘Time Has Come’ I upgraded the sound intensity from 1’47 to 2’15.
From 2’35 until 3’00 the right channel was deteriorated, it is now restored by using the left channel duplicated).

Part III: 22nd May 1969: Bremen, West-Germany, Glocke
Line-up: MT (gtr)/John Mayall (voc, harm, keyb, gtr)/Steven Thompson (bass)/Colin Allen (dr)
07 - All My Life
I deleted a noise at 0’16
08 - Goin' Down The Road
I deleted a gap at 1’36 and I upgraded a gap with a long fade in at 4’36
09 – outro with band introduction
Here also these two songs were not in the official recording but appeared in the version sent by nzb. They have not been kept probably because they were altered

As usual all the infos are taken from: The Mick Taylor Complete Works Database by Nico Zentgraf: [www.nzentgraf.de]
