Rolling Stones @ Thunder Ridge Nature Arena 2024-07-21 (Raw Wav)

In 48/24

This show initially appeared the most expensive and most difficult but circumstances started trending in the other direction a few weeks before the show and it all fell together.

Had Sec 9 far side, but centered off to the front row of some center section, went to general area of seat Sec 8/9 for Keith set, drifted back during SFTD then to the front just behind pit for Satisfaction. I was a bit loose since word on the street it was being "properly archived"

May or may not be noticeable but might wanna smooth out levels a bit. Wish I got just a bit more before lights went out but some employees sat next to me and I was asking for their wristband and chatting a bit.

Love the place, love Branson. Would like to come back but the chances of finding a band that could pull in another designated driver are pretty slim.

Rolling Stones were about as good as I had ever seen them and cranked it up a notch even over the 2nd LA show.

I got the fireworks show which ran a bit longer than expected.

Anyway, do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law. I am already thinking forward. Will deal with Samantha Fish later.

And still chugging along, if reduced activity at [ijwthstd.blogspot.com]

Only thing I did was editing and declicking the recording, channel equilibration (+15% to the right channel) and slightly refocusing the voice.

Note that this version is now in 16 BITS and burnable as cd-rs.

Thanks, great full sound !

Unfortunately it's hard to listen to on headphones as there's a lot of shifting/phasing from left to right, would that be due to the sound being blocked by people or did it sound like that on location ?

Haven't listened, but that can happen due to wind, taper head movement (if mics are laced in a hat), or folks moving in front. Didn't Dan move positions too? There would be some of that at least while on the move.

I had seen the part about moving positions but that "shifting/phasing" is happening pretty much all the time. Could be head movements with mics being at the tip of camera branches yes. I'd thought of heavy wind too but I think that would have been mentioned in the concert reviews ;-)

Forced mono in VLC and it's less noticeable but of course not the same listening experience.

Actually much of that can be lessened.
It's sounding pretty good on headphones and the last little bits of swirlyness I'm declaring to be part of it's appeal. A feature not a hindrance. lol

At it's best this may be the best capture of the tour.

not blind, was blindmansbluff, is acetboy

My seat was in Sec 9 - it was the best I could get outside tho I was trying for pit. I moved to the front row of maybe Sec 16 but it got too crowded, either with the actual seatholders or people with more nerve than me. During the band introductions I moved back to the general area of my seat and recorded the Keith set from around Sec 8 row 2. Then when the Sympathy loop started I moved back to the same area settling in last row of Sec 7, then for encore moved right to the front.

Basically showed up without tickets, I had to wade thru piles of scams to find some locals with real tickets, mostly comps, all GA's which I was flipping upward but at showtime approached, all anyone had was more GA. Then walk in and see that GA would have been just fine for me. The venue was really wide and the rear wasn't any further than the rear of the venue in Hollywood, FL.

Then I see my friend who provided most valuable logistical assistance, and who I felt really bad just sticking with GA walk right into the pit.

Thanks again for all your efforts ! Would you attribute the "swirling/shifting/phasing" to the crowd moving around and in front of you ?
