1972 Tucson and Charlotte
Posted by: Stoons ()
Date: November 6, 2022 13:54

Dear Stoons fans,

Here's two links from recordings which don't seem easy available from the best tour ever.
The Tucson recording is from Cannonball records. The most complete and best sounding recording from the June 14 Show (see page 73 from Tourbook '72)

And the correct speeded Charlotte. A project from Watchit! and Erik Snow.
From the July 6 Show (see page 186 from Tourbook '72).

Jagger gave it all in Charlotte. Amazing...

This being said I still prefer the gigs from the 2nd half of July. Among them the rarely mentioned Toronto ones.

Feel free to disagree of course!

I kinda like the VGP better. It's definitely louder.

Yes this second version of the Tucson show is better.
The first version has both channels way down level wise
with one channel even lower than the other.
And the first version is lossy. There's MP3 in the lineage.

not blind, was blindmansbluff, is acetboy

RE Tucson I found an old message from (former?) member Heilobaas :

"Disc One is from Harold Colson of Stoneslib fame. He bought this on ebay and it's a vast improvement over what was available at the time.
Disc Two is labeled DE UPGRADE wh. means it's upgraded by somebody in Germany"

Does anyone have this 2-cd fan version?

I downloaded both. As others have said, the Cannonball version is recorded too low, especially on one channel. I spent about an hour fixing that, reindexing, and rolling off the high end which has no music, only hiss.

The VGP version is probably a little better. It has more low end than the Cannonball release. For whatever reason, the VGP version is missing a lot of the tuning up, etc., between songs. Cannonball is complete except for the missing end of YCAGWYW.
