Tech Question About Removing Crackle from Apple Acetate
Posted by: exilestones ()
Date: October 28, 2022 20:27

I enjoy the Apple Acetate (alternate Get Yer YaYa's Out!) but I hate the crackle, especially
during Jumping Jack Flash. I am looking for suggestions to remove the crackle.

I'm guessing there is a way to manually remove the crackle instead of running the audio
track(s) through a program that will soften the crackle and everything else in the song.

Here's a copy of the Apple Acetate is/was up for auction. Apparently, there were several
copies of the Apple Acetate (YaYas) around.

Disc 3 of DAC's Broadway blew me away! It needs a little EQ but it is amazing.

Yes, i was thinking about fixing this one a bit, but then i forgot. Thanks for the reminder and thanks gonzalo76 for providing the different versions. As i remember this was running at wrong speed (could be it`s fixed on DAC version)

Ahhh, man! This needs some EQ, especially on "Jumping Jack Flash" to bring out the lead guitar. If you would improve the acetate, I would be so happy!

This DAC is the best version available.

I couldn't tell you much about the correct speed. That subject is 'over my head' since I don't understand what key a song is in (did I say that correctly?). I know changing the speed of a song can change the key or pitch (is there a difference?).

Here is a BPM finder that works well [tunebat.com]

I check every version of the Apple Acetate I could find.

What seems a little wonky is "Live With Me" sounds very clear and "Jumpin' Jack Flash" seems to be less high-end EQ'd.

There are probably a few great alternate bonus tracks around that haven't been officially released.

YaYas Cover -

The famous photo of Charlie Watts on the donkey was shot by David Bailey. Bailey was a long-time collaborator on Stones covers including ‘Out of Our Heads’, ‘Its Only Rock n Roll’ and ‘Goat’s Head Soup’. The inspiration for the cover came from a line from the Bob Dylan song ‘Visions of Johanna’ “Jewels and binoculars hang from the head of the mule”.

In a 2017 interview Charlie Watts explained, “It was David, who we worked with a lot in those days. I went to this place near where I used to live which was Hendon. It had a plane runway, an aerodrome. They brought the donkey along, put a drum on it. I was in my stage clothes and borrowed Mick’s hat in one of them. David was up a ladder shutting down, then on the floor shooting up. That’s about it”.
