But what about Lou & The Tots ? A very underrated era in my opinion.

Only thinking about soundboards I am aware of one official and one unofficial release, both recorded in New York 1972

There is also live at Kings Cross which is of great historical importance but poor sound...

(formerly known as The Phantom Of Rock) - as good as/better than Hempstead

Or would you like to have go at the Berlin acetate ?

Merci beaucoup
On this recording, Dick Wagner is louder than Steve Hunter, more on the right channel

Oddly,
On R&R animal, Steve is on the left channel and Dick on the right channel
But on Lou Reed Live, from the same show, Steve is on the right channel and Dick on the left.

On the different bootlegs from that tour, it depends but mostly Steve Hunter is on the left channel

LOU REED 1979-03-27 Stockholm audience recording with lineage

Note: this master recording was shared by the taper (Peter?) here on Dime some years ago, but I cannot find any record of that upload. At that time, I burned it to CDR using EAC. For this upload I've extracted the files using EAC and re-encoded them to flac. I've not altered the original files in any way, other than re-naming them for buring onto CDR. See below for details.

This is a really nice quality stereo recording. Artwork included.

Concerthouse
Stockholm
Sweden
27 March 1979

disc 1

D101: Sweet Jane 4.47
D102: Coney Island Baby 7.57
D103: Perfect Day 9.03
D104: I'm Waiting For The Man 16.36
D105: I'll Be Your Mirror 4.07
D106: Femme Fatale 4.47
D107: Looking For Love 7.58

disc 2
D201: Men Of Good Fortune 5.10
D202: Caroline Says 2 4.17
D203: The Kids 4.39
D204: The Bed 5.00
D205: Sad Song 7.38
D206: Street Hassle 18.12
D207: The Bells 6.57

"The Bells" European Tour 1979

March 27: Concerthaus, Stockholm
March 28: Falkonerteatret, Copenhagen
March 29: Kongresscentre, Hamburg
March 30: Eisporthalle, Berlin
April 01: Philipshalle, Dusseldorf
April 02: Pavillion, Paris
April 04: Mozarthalle, Mannheim
April 05: Liedhalle, Stuttgart
April 06, Stadthalle, Offenbach
April 07: Festhalle, Basle
April 08: Circus Krone, Munich (cancelled?)
April 10: Hammersmith Odeon, London
April 12: National Stadium, Dublin

This was the opening show of Lou's spring 1979 tour to support "The Bells".

Lou's booze-soaked spring 1979 European tour to support "The Bells" was a big production. The songs almost all get extended workouts, with lengthy solos from everyone (and lead vocals for Moose on "You Keep Me Hanging On"). The tour was the usual trail round the same familiar countries - at least they were playing larger venues this time. (Chuck Hammer was later quoted as saying that the band travelled First Class and stayed at top hotels). RCA and Arista seemed to be competing with each other with Reed product, in the UK at least. There, "Take No Prisoners" was finally released (by RCA) on March 9th, while "The Bells" eventually hit the shops on April 27th. (Lou still "owed" RCA Europe a double LP to compensate for the non-release of "Metal Machine Music" anywhere outside North America.) Apart from a few dates in mid 1978, Lou hadn't played in Europe since August 1977, so these shows were much-anticipated - there was much speculation as to which persona Lou would adopt this time round. On a personal level, Rachel was now gone - replaced by his wife-to-be Sylvia, who accompanied the tour party. She had weaned Lou away from speed but he replaced it with alcohol: his gut now bulged embarrassingly under his t shirt.

Share the music!

RIP Lou

tks a lot Captain. great sound quality. interesting to hear Heroin kind of leading into Vicious, hence being played rather early in the show.
Two-Bit Friends actually is part 1 of Oh Jim, so 5. and 6. being 1 song

On this recording, Dick Wagner is louder than Steve Hunter, more on the right channel

may be stereo channels purposely reversed to create a fuller sound (some bootleggers do that)
