POST (from Dime) : 1975-07-11 (formerly known as July 12) : two recordings Mike MIllard and Ed. F.

Here they are straight from Dime. Thanks to all the good people there.
(no remaster no alteration just a straight repost).

Millard tape :

[we.tl]
[we.tl]

Ed F. tape :
[we.tl]
[we.tl]
[we.tl]

I had to split the torrents into smaller chunks so I could upload them to WT. My old computer is probably the culprit.

Enjoy and thanks to Mike Millard and Ed. F! Ed's recording is far better than the one used by VGP for their #340 boot.

You're welcome!

As it's Christmas time cool smiley I've added the complete "Sympathy" that's on VGP-340 disc4 (the Ed. F. tape runs out at about 6 minutes).
[we.tl]

Imho it's a so-so tape but it could be made a lot better with some re-EQ (a boost of the treble mainly).

July 11.
And the video show is July 12. After all it seems that Jagger and Eagle Vision were right after all...

What about the original vinyl boots from 1975 and forward. Any clues to the correct dates there?

Torrent #720904 Rolling Stones * 1975-07-11 * The Forum * Inglewood, CA * The Lost and Found Mike the MICrphone Tapes Volume 117 * Mike Millard Master Tapes via JEMS * Partial Millard Master With Ed F Master Patches [www.dimeadozen.org]

While JEMS considers ourselves relatively Stones savvy, the confusion about these dates and recordings is above our paygrade. For help, we turned to LetItBleed who wrote this in an attempt to explain the July 11/July 12 fuzziness:

"The date of the performance captured on this recording has long been presumed to be July 12, 1975. We now strongly believe it is July 11 and here is why:

Until the official release of the Eagle Rock “LA Friday” companion DVD (an upgrade of the only widely circulating videotaped performance from the 1975 tour),it had always been assumed in collectors’ circles that this particular concert occurred on July 11. The “video concert” has gained questionable fame because it displays some of the worst playing of the entire tour and shows the band on an obvious off night with missed cues, out of tune guitars, sloppy vocals (not the good kind) and a general carelessness by the players (not the cool kind).

The Eagle Rock release credits state that the videotaped concert occurred on July 12. At the time Eagle Rock's LA Friday came out, some believed the credited date to be an error/mislabel for what should have been the "known" July 11 performance.

Mike Millard's friend Ed F recorded all five LA Forum 1975 shows including the “video concert." His cassettes clearly identify that respective recording as July 12 and there is no reason to believe that he was wrong. Nor is it likely Mike Millard got it wrong, too.

The previous assumption of July 11 date for the "video concert," at least to my knowledge, was verified or proven. With that in mind and two completely independent sources attributing the “video concert” to July 12, we now strongly believe that what was always believed to be the July 11 concert is actually July 12 and vice-versa. This is not the video concert, but night three, recorded on July 11.

Unfortunately, during both concerts, there are no comments from the stage which can definitively corroborate the date. However, we feel confident identifying these source recordings as July 11 based on the above evidence."

Or in other words: Eagle Rock was right all along.

EDIT: I don't know why [www.nzentgraf.de] says:

For the CD:
750713A 13th July: Inglewood (near Los Angeles), California, Forum
The whole show was officially released as download in 2012 (see 120402A) and on CD in 2014 (see 141114A).

For the DVD
750711A 11th July: Inglewood (near Los Angeles), California, Forum
The whole show was professionally filmed by The Record Plant.
It was officially released on DVD on November 14, 2014 (see 141114A).

Correct.

Everything that has previously believed to have been July 11 is actually July 12 and vice-versa.

3 indpendent sources have confirmed the date of the sloppy "video-show" as July 12:
- Eagle Rock official release
- Ed F.´s personal source notes
- Mike Millard´s personal source notes

The previous July 11 date was never confirmed based on substantial evidence, it was just always "assumed".

The Zentgraf site is out of date and has several mistakes when it comes to concert recording source notes, documentation of facts etc. For startes, the July 12 1975 show was VIDEO TAPED, not "filmed"...

thumbs up T&F!

So the L.A. residency went like this :

- July 9 : a very strong opener (the press and the L.A. socialites were here so the band had to deliver)
- July 10 : a very good inspired perf
- July 11 : a rather tired gig (MR is fantastic though)
- July 12 : the video show (enough said about it...) confused smiley
- July 13 : a return to form (with Jesse Ed Davis on Sympathy)

No wonder I couldn't hear Jesse Ed Davies on Sympathy For The Devil on the cd, because the cd is dated July 11
and the dvd is from July 12 ...

and what about the tape Mr Freeze released a long time ago claiming his recording is 11 July...since he taped it himself it should be considered correct to be July 11 no?

The CD "LA Friday" renamed "LA Forum" was recorded on SUNDAY, July 13, 1975.

Listen to Mick's banter after "Happy" and before "Tumbling Dice" were Mick goes on about "who went to church this Sunday?"

The July 12 show is where the cocaine and LA nightlife caught up with them.

It's absolutely clear that the video show is indeed July 12th.

And I have to consider consulting a doctor, because my brain was playing tricks with me all the time. Although I had the incomplete Millard recording of the show and although it was easy to figure out that it's not the video show, I confused the dates anyway.

There is even one more proof for July 12th being the video show:
Along with the famous "Whores, Cocaine, & A Bottle of Jack" bootleg came a video collection of Super8 videos from all LA shows. And it was said that the clips are in correct order of the dates. And even there I confused the dates, when checking.

"Oh help me, please doctor, I'm damaged"

that's how it is!! it even says!
"Billy went to church this morning!"

That also gives me the guideline that the CD is recorded on the date of Sunday July 13
