My Remaster Project of the Nicaragua Benefit Concert LA 1973

Greetings,

I'm working on a remaster of this gig and have made progress but hit a little roadblock.

The source I am using is Silkcut 1978's Declicked version - THE ROLLING STONES - "ALL MEAT MUSIC" (TMOQ vinyl rip) (Thanks Silcut 1978!)

I'm having an issue with side 3 of the vinyl - the part that starts with Sweet Virginia - the original TMOQ Vinyl "ALL MEAT MUSIC" is just a poor pressing as there is more surface noise on this side.

Does anyone know of a cleaner source - or a different vinyl rip that does not have the same artifacts? (It seems all digital copies out there are based on Silkcut 1978's rip these days).

Here is a before and after sample for ref.

We Transfer

There is too much denoising at certain areas which will be adjusted - but you get the idea of what can be done.

Thanks!

Soundboard

The best version I heard so far, is your 2020 remaster. It will be hard, to find another source.

I hear no surface noise on VGP-283. Sample Sweet Virginia from the latest VGP edition on golden CDs: [we.tl]

And while you're at it, please add Midnight Rambler (encore) to your effort. Thanks!

Has MR ever been circulating? It seems to be as rare as the 100 Club gig or a complete EL Mocambo concert. All we have from MR, is a photo of Keith with a capo on fret 7, or am I wrong?

No, you're not wrong. MR is missing. But since everybody nowadays is remastering, remixing, re-editing, reinventing songs i'd thought that to create a MR is possible!

Your wish should come true. A lot of us would give a few Dollars/Euros for that.

It's an historic show, certainly but not the best sound on it unfortunately.
The dime upload sounds ok on Bitch but way too slow on Route 66 to my ears.
Would be great to see an official release but I very much doubt they bothered to record it.

"These files are MP3 - I am still working on the multitrack AIFF file that is massive.

So if there is some love I will upload a pure FLAC file when I eventually get it finished."

Please upload the flac.

Hey Exile Stones,
Thanks for the support.
After the suggestions above I found Silkcut's De-Clicked version was the best.
I started over.
This boot is a rabbithole of discovery.
Each song has it's own dynamic range and surface noise issue from the original vinyl.
That said it is getting there.
The below sample contains Silkcut's original then the work in progress I have been doing which is a bit bright in this sample. I have been working on the highs lately after getting the vinyl noise out.
Sadly it is not Dolby Atmos spinning smiley sticking its tongue out
