I'm interested to hear what the members here consider to be the best live performances of Street Fighting Man.

The one in the original Bedspring Symphony boot, Wembley 9/9/73.

The 73 version is shurely the most exciting version. Rough, fast, dynamic and melodic. On top.
The later version lost the dynamic but were still rough until 1981. From 1989 the song turned into a replica without roughnes or power.
But the latest versions are a very good example for the rough sound of the current Stones. Of course not fresh like in 73 but rough and dynamic.
I must admit, that I realy like the dirty sounding Stones.
I saw the No Filter tourstart in Hamburg.
Like every tourstart they were not on top. The difference to the shows in 2018 was big. In Berlin 2018 they sounded powerfull and much tighter. They opened the show with Street Fighting Man. The power was blowing me away. One of my top memories of the many Stones shows I have seen.
But! The 2017 version of the song was rough and they tried just to be themselves. Thats the courage, that is the basic of the rough and tight version of 2018.

I love this song. micha063 is right, the version from Berlin 2018 was absolutely mind blowing. Loud, rough and dirty. That's how I like my Rolling Stones.

I personally don't like the 70s and 70s versions too much because they rush too fast through the song. Kinda takes the weight and power out of it. My vote goes to the Stripped, the Live Licks and Tokyo 95 versions.

That one from Paris is still sticking in my mind. Was at the second show and Mick was standing behind Charlie playing the Cymbal during the end part.

I've got some hunting to do for these. Very appreciated.

You're absolutely right, "Nothing tops the Wembley 73 version!" It's on many releases since it was on several King Biscuit Flower Hour radio broadcasts.

I love the At The Max Street Fighting Man. I think it's one of the best.

I like this thread. I'll find some versions of Street Fighting Man that I didn't know about.

I also liked the other thread about what people thought what the best Midnight Rambler.

Totally agree with you I like this kind of thread which is all about music.

For Street fighting man I would add MSG 69 and Fort Worth 72 (2nd show) or Philly.

For Rambler London and Brussels 1973 and also NY 72 (26/07) although some versions of the recent tours were pretty good too. Paris last show in 2017 come to my mind.

Imho what disqulifies the Brussels version is the atonal (and rather odd) MT licks at the very end of the song.
It sound like : "brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...". Weird...
