I could barely listen to the EP because of the mix so I applied a gentle EQ curve to the Copacabana tracks to compensate a bit for the unpleasant idiosyncrasies of this mix. I did this for myself to make it a little more enjoyable to listen to and thought I would share it in case anyone is interested.

I did a relatively broad cut around 2.5 to tone down this frequencies range since it was sounding rather exaggerated and nasty especially on Micks voice and opened up the top from 8KHz on to compensate a bit for the muddiness.

However simply boosting up the treble is difficult on this release since it will lead to harsh sounding cymbals and percussion. So I found a compromise I'm quite happy with since it's slightly opening up everything while still not sounding artificially boosted. Also I slightly enhanced the low end since it was lacking a bit on this mix. Surely you could apply much more drastic EQ changes to it but I wanted to keep the processing natural and just make it all a little bit more pleasant for me to listen to. Of course it's still sounding heavily compressed and it is just not a good mix but more enjoyable to me that way.


Just a gentle correction of the frequency spectrum and normalizing afterwards. No compression or any other signal processing. Used the 24bit/48Khz files Gonzalo uploaded and did not do any file format or sample rate conversion.

Thank you for sharing your effort. Wil listen to this tommorrow. Why o why did they have to choose these Universal mastering clowns. Why not go for good sound?

I really wish they gave us proper mixes for these shows.

That´s a brilliant idea! Voodoo Lounge Uncut is unlistenable, a totally wasted opportunity. I had been waiting for it for a long time, what a devastating disappointment it turned out to be.

Funny to think a fan has to remaster a release so we can finally play it. Wouldn’t of guessed things would go in this direction when i was a youngster. Aside from bootlegs I never questioned sound quality.

It's actually ridiculous since in 2021 they have all possibilities to let those achieve releases sound better than ever. And then we get a sound like that.
If I compensate a bit for their mess up with my work and people enjoy it more I am happy with that
