A special thanks to QuiqueStone for his patience and attention !

STEEL WHEELS sessions
Presentation, objectives and thanks:
After “Undercover”, “Tattoo You”, “Some Girls”, “Emotional Rescue” and “Dirty Work” here you’ll find the “Steel Wheels”-sessions.
The original idea was to collect all circulating versions of the tracks used for “Steel Wheels” and the sessions from this era (1989).
As for the previous project I did two versions: one with the untouched tracks and another one with my DIY... always with the idea in mind that you can keep only what you prefer. For this compilation I left out all the versions that were used for official releases.
As usual I decided to post this project in volumes of two CDs: the first CD of each volume containing the untouched versions and the second CD my DIY.
I used Nico Zentgraf's Rolling Stones Complete Works Database a lot: [www.nzentgraf.de] of which I tried to respect the chronology and the order of the proposed versions. It was not always easy to spot the different versions; the result is not perfect and surely may be criticized. It's possible that I made (I certainly did!) mistakes... I thank you in advance for helping me to find and correct them. Don’t forget that all this is done for pleasure and passion...
I also used the Rolling Stones Bootleg Database: [www.dbboots.com]
I thank them warmly and also my partners in crime Enrique, Jaap and nzb, for their advice and revisions!

Notes:
- Concerning the speed: I checked and corrected the speed for the tracks which circulate as official releases. Of course it’s possible that the speed of the recordings was changed in the post production!

Infos about the sessions:
* 29th March - 5th May 1989: Montserrat, West Indies, AIR Studios.
Producers: Chris Kimsey & The Glimmer Twins.
Sound engineer: Christopher Marc Potter.
Additional musicians: Chuck Leavell (keyb)/Bernard Fowler (bvoc)/Sarah Dash (bvoc)/Lisa Fischer (bvoc)/Luis Jardim (perc)/Phil Beer (fiddle, mandolin)/Matt Clifford (keyb)/Sonia Morgan (bvoc)/Tessa Niles (bvoc)/Farafina (african instruments)/The Kick Horns (brass). Maybe some contributions of the additional musicians come from Olympic Sound Studios, London (see below).
* 15th May - 29th June 1989: London, Olympic Sound Studios.
Producers: Chris Kimsey & The Glimmer Twins.
Sound engineer: Christopher Marc Potter.

Thanks Stonyroad! I only have one question regarding Mixed Emotions Version numbers. On Flashpoint Collectibles it says that the 6 minute version or 12" singles is version IV but, you have it as version 7. Sorry, just wanted to make sure that I had them ordered right. Thanks again!

I must admit I only checked the boots versions (just that took me a little while) so for the official versions I trusted Nico Zentgraf website and don't compar them!

No problem, just wanted you to be aware. Thank you again for these sets!

Also just found on Flashpoint Collectibles that they have Rock And A Hard Place II
6:57, I think The Stones don't count the way we count versions!
