My impression is that at least some are outtakes that Mick worked on in 1993 and maybe also in 1999 for the Memory Motel release.

I think so for "Sanctuary"

Could be but absent any info whatsoever on Memory Hotel we'll probably never lnow. I'm a sucker for outtakes but some of the new tracks are really poor, like Nobody's Perfect, Desperate Man on the other hand, wow!

Desperate Man is such beast! They should have put that on BtB! Also Ivy League (Break Lose?)with vocals is such a great and sexy tune.

Let's not get all too overwhelmed by the first listening experience here... while there's some great stuff, even some true diamonds, I'm sure that closer inspection will reveal that the vast majority does not exactly beg for official release.

Yes there are those as well, but this time these songs are more complete than just noodling around an idea.

Your Honor may I remind you that the difference between an A-grade song worth releasing and B-grade stuff worth shelving is 2 weeks of hard work in the studio?
winking smiley
Said differently any demo will remain a demo/song idea if they don't work hard at turning it into something else.
Remember "One Hit" their last true classic imo : they created it from two so-so songs one of them being more or less a cover of a reggae tune. That required weeks of studio work...

So this is definetly "more" than expected.
Great stuff if you love the sloppy Stones ,..GREAT I like it:
...and quiet interesting to put every song in the right period
Can´t wait for the discusion here

Of course, but then it goes without saying that you can't polish a turd, no matter how hard you try. Who says that they did not invest hard work into some of these cuts but simply could not find the right angle or creative spark and therefore gave up?

Too Tight...great.

The guitar intro is already there,
Charlie drumming to it. And there´s a violin :-)

I'm having so much fun listening to these newly discovered tracks. It's like trying to fit pieces to a puzzle with figuring out when these songs were recorded. This might be the most diverse Stones outtakes bootleg ever put out. It's so expansive!! grinning smiley

Desperate Man is such beast!

It was supposed to be on the new album but "thanks to" our collective greed all plans are cancelled anf the band has to delay the release of this album!
(Just kidding! And yes it's a good track!)

Mick is quite good on the Otis Redding cover "I've Got Dreams to Remember" recorded during the UC sessions. thumbs up
To me it sounds like a bluerpint for the sublime 2003 live cover of "That's How Strong My Love Is".

Listening to circulating versions and using Nico's Website, these are my thoughts about the sources. Please tell me, if you think I'm wrong.

31- Every Time I Break Her Heart

SG sessions : to me it's clearly a raw version of "Far Away Eyes".

Built That Way (= Boogie Jam -instr.- 'Smack & Blow')
19750122-0209 Rotterdam Sessions, MRU

this music seems like heatwave from martha reeves and the vandellas

"23- Hands Off
Get Your Hands Off - version III, more finished version (source unsure)
19930709-1211 Windmill Lane Recording & RW's House, Dublin"

You're right!
It's rather funny they made 3 attempts at this so-so track during the VL sessions.

Indeed. It's almost like somebody inside the Stones camp said "You want a new album? Now here you have it - you just need to compile your personal favourites from this collection!"

The sound quality is phenomenal throughout, by the way.
