POST: The EMOTIONAL RESCUE SESSIONS - Vol 01 (FP 086)

EMOTIONAL RESCUE sessions
Presentation, objectives and thanks:
After “Undercover”, “Tattoo You” and “Some Girls” here you’ll find the “Emotional Rescue”-sessions.
The original idea was to collect all circulating versions of the tracks used for “Emotional Rescue” and the sessions from this era (January 1978 to January 1980).
As for the previous project I did two versions: one with the untouched tracks and another one with my DIY... always with the idea in mind that you can keep only what you prefer. For this compilation I left out all the versions that were used for official releases.

As usual I decided to post this project in volumes of two CDs: the first CD of each volume containing the untouched versions and the second CD my DIY.

I used Nico Zentgraf's Rolling Stones Complete Works Database a lot: [www.nzentgraf.de] of which I tried to respect the chronology and the order of the proposed versions. It was not always easy to spot the different versions; the result is not perfect and surely may be criticized. It's possible that I made (I certainly did!) mistakes... I thank you in advance for helping me to find and correct them. Don’t forget that all this is done for pleasure and passion...
I also used the Rolling Stones Bootleg Database: [www.dbboots.com]
I thank them warmly and also my partners in crime Enrique, Jaap and nzb, for their advice and revisions!

Notes:
- When I just write «reworked» it means it’s duplicated and the difference is minor.
- Concerning the speed: I only checked and corrected the speed for the tracks existing as official. Of course it’s possible that the speed of the recordings was changed in the post production!

PART I: The tracks from the original album
Volume 1:

01 – DANCE (Pt.1)
10th June - 7th July & late July - 25th August & 12th September - 19th October: 1979:
01a – Dance #1 (7’18) DAC 107 - count-in complete. For me this version seems earlier than the others, some clumsiness on the guitar (for example at 1'25) so I call it #1!
01b – Dance #1 (7’18) (reworked) slight noise reduction
02a – Dance #2 (6’57) (DAC 108) - early lyrics
02b – Dance #2 (6’52) (reworked) duplicated, accelerated by 1,1%
03a – Dance #3 (7’43) (DAC 108) - early lyrics, with «three, four...» count-in
03b – Dance #3 (7’38) (reworked) duplicated, accelerated by 1,1%
04a – Dance #4 (8’06) (DAC 108) - early lyrics with «two, three, four» count-in
04b – Dance #4 (7’59) (reworked) accelerated by 1,55%
Early November – December 1979 & probably January 1980:
05a – Dance #5 (6’14) (DAC 202/ACT) - mix of Dance Pt. 1 and If I Was A Dancer
05a – Dance #5 (6’16) (reworked) decelerated by -0,65% to be synchronized with the official version, slight noise reduction
Notes: Dance #6 (If I Was A Dancer) - ’Sucking In The 70’s’-version
Dance #7 - instrumental promo-version
Dance #8 - ’Emotional Rescue’-version

02 – SUMMER ROMANCE

06a – Summer Romance #3 (5’26) (EXR) - count- in, first verse «…you’re be back in class»
06a – Summer Romance #3 (5’36) (reworked) decelerated by -2,85%, slight noise reduction 10th June - 7th July & late July - 25th August & 12th September - 19th October 1979:
07a – Summer Romance #4 (5’34) (DAC 108-2) - more finished lyrics than #3
07b – Summer Romance #4 (5’34) (reworked) a little noise at the end deleted
08a – Summer Romance #5 (3’15) (DAC 153) - different vocal, one less guitar but w. piano
08b – Summer Romance #5 (3’15) (reworked) decelerated by -1,25%, equalized
09a – Summer Romance #6 (3’53) (RYF 003) - finished lyrics, plus bvoc; long version of #7
09b – Summer Romance #6 (3’54) (reworked) decelerated by -0,14%, equalized, slight noise reduction.

Summer Romance #2 - early lyrics (see Some Girls sessions Vol 07)
Summer Romance #7 - ’Emotional Rescue’-version

10a - Send It To Me #1 (6’16) (VGP 370) - long version with vocals
10b - Send It To Me #1 (6’12) (reworked) accelerated by +1,1%
Note: Send It To Me #2 - ’Emotional Rescue’-version

04 – LET ME GO
10th June - 7th July & late July - 25th August & 12th September - 19th October 1979:
