I think this upgrade of mine should also be here, i think this one is the best one so far. It`s 2020 upgrade of my previous remaster.

[mega.nz]

Exactly!!!
I just found this version yesterday at the IORR Vault "Captain Acid Remaster" as APCD 018 1977.03.04+05 El Mocambo_CaptainAcidRemaster_UPGRADEofAnUpgrade_2020!
I didn't see it anywhere, only here.
Thank you so much Captain for all your great work!!!

NEW INFO:

Just as i have shared this upgrade, 3 tracks from better sources emerged. Those were kindly shared by BlueTurns2Gray on iorr. Those tracks are:

01. Route 66, not from the acetate! No crackles, it's soundboard and has a slightly longer outro!NEW!(Channels converted)

03. Crazy Mama, without speed problem on first note, more clear sound. NEW!(Channels converted)

06. Dance Little Sister, acetate version, more clear sound. NEW!

I have remastered all 3 tracks and incorporeted in the album. I also did some edits on intros and outros of some of those tracks, incorporating longer ones.

Captain Acid, May 2020

This is version 3.....UPGRADE 2020 (April) to my remasters from 2012 & 2016. It started when i discovered that last track from Version 2 was lossy.
So i used the one from version 1.
Also used tracks 1,6 and 7 (from version 1). I did little bit more EQ and some editing.

Captain Acid, April 2020

4th & 5th March: Toronto, Canada, El Mocambo Tavern
Note: Soundboard recording was made by Eddie Kramer.
Soundboard recording remastered by Captain Acid in May 2012 and October 2016.....and this version April 2020

01. Route 66
02. Hand Of Fate
03. Crazy Mama CUT.
04. Mannish Boy
05. Crackin`Up
06. Dance Little Sister
07. Around And Around
08. Worried About You
09. Let`s Spend Night Together_completed
10. Band Intro
11. Little Red Rooster

My personal resume is, that there must be minimum 3 sources for the El Mocambo tracks.

1. The 3 acetate tracks - some are very good declicked
2. The tape tracks - ca. 30 minutes, LSTNT and CM are cuts. Higher generations have a speed problem at the beginning of CM
3. A reel or tape with the complete LSTNT track

Sometimes transfered in mono only.

IMO, CaptainAcid made the best collection from all these tracks. It was nice to compare all your uploads. Thanks to all of you. smileys with beer

I loved that WAY version ever since getting a red vinyl of El Mocambo in the early 90s, the time one sent Deutsche Mark in envelope to purchase bootlegs.
Jagger doing falsetto live for the first time, great playing, what's not to like? But opinions are-----you know....

Erik you're a black belt in Stonemania so I can't compete with you but imo that version is very tentative and the fact that Mick begs Ronnie to play a decent solo (he can't...) "kills" the track for me.

The only question is when.

If the Covid lasts long enough and prevents the band from touring, Mick will have to "put another log in the fireplace" = release some more stuff to keep the media focused on the band.

Therefore grinning smiley a 1976 Paris DVD with a bonus CD of Mocambo cuts might be suitable.

you're talking about the black&blue deluxe box from 2022?

Does anyone know/recall the story of the "acetate" ? Is it an official acetate that was made when they were working on LYL or a bootleg pressing of a leaked tape ?

All I know is, that there must be minimum 3 sources for the known Mocambo tracks and of course the official LYL tracks.

1) The 7" iorr fan club single-ep with 3 tracks from the accetate & interviews. This must be around 1984, a few years before mp3's, internet streams and cd's started to rule the music world. So the owner of the accetate might also be an early iorr member.

2) The 30 min. sbd tape with a few songs and cuts from LSTNT and CM. Only a hand full of fans had it in 1984 and didn't share it. I was invited to have a listen, but didn't get a copy. These collectors have been trading with BW and others, so they had and surely still have a lot of rare stuff. It took many years, till I received a copy from other sources. You can hear two songs from that tape on Captain Acids 2020 Mocambo issue.

3) VGP 005 includes a complete version of LSTNT in lower quality, but so there must be another source with maybe more tracks.

That's not a lot, but end of my story.

Great info, thanks, some mystery remains then...are there any songs from that 30' sbd tape that haven't made it or are they on the acetate too ?

In any case it would be lovely to have an official release, much more interesting IMHO than all these recent shows with more or less the same songs (don't get me wrong it's fine when you're at a show) and waning skills (Keith mostly but he was the main engine), and they could probably spin a good story around Keith's busts, Margaret Trudeau, etc..."when the Stones were dangerous", etc...

i don´t want to spoil the sale but: i used to* own this** box. i was very disappointed when i listened to it. somebody took the well known el-mocambo-tracks and added some other recordings of the 1976 tour. as a collector for 35 years, i guess those were taken from knebworth 1976. connesseurs will confirm that the sound reveals it. el mocambo tracks sound like el mocambo and the other tracks sound like "look at my face" (and other knebworth recordings). the source description in discogs is wrong (maybe taken from the wrong box description). at least, the tracks are mixed and not sorted by sides/faces!

since this experience, i am very careful with the rtr-boxes.

summing up, it is a nice box, nice colour vinyl, nice design. but not a collector´s item to listen to if you want to have more el mocambo - no unknwon el mocambo tracks included! sorry for telling the sad truth in this case.

i guess the stones will release the complete el mocambo 77 some day.

* sold a couple of weeks ago.
** the funny thing is that i owned #244 (of 700)* which also can be seen at discogsconfused smiley (not my entry@discogs). which number is being offered here?
