Keep It Cool LONGEST VERSION_Captain Acid

Hi Stones fanatics,

It was dcba who asked me to do this. He pointed out that 2 versions of "Keep It Cool" from DAC-200 "The Incredible Art Collins Tapes Vol, 1" were actually one take. And not just that but they were in wrong order on DAC 200.

#2 should be the first part of the song, and #1 should be second.

So i have put it in correct order and edited it together in one track(removed the gap between those 2 parts). I also did new EQ to make it bit more alive.

Here it is, enjoy.

Captain Acid

Thanks, longest Stones track ever, surely !
Apart from the alleged 45' "Jah is not Dead" that Mick supposedly played to the EMI execs as a joke when they came to see how the SG sessions were going.

Assuming that this is "Keep It Cool Pt1 & 2", which Bootleg contains "Keep It Cool II (Nearly 10 minutes)"? Or, as Nico says, is it just an edited version and you don't have to worry about it?

which Bootleg contains "Keep It Cool II (Nearly 10 minutes)"?

DAC-159 cd1 track 14...
As zentgraf points out "Keep It Cool II" starts with a count-in by Jagger (and ends with a nice funky bass riff).

Thank you, I immediately listened and compared. The electric piano that follows Mick's count is already different for # 2, so I found out that it is not an edited version of 1 & 2 but a separate performance with a cohesive composition. Thank you again.

This is nothing new. I have already made this long version some weeks ago and posted it but obviously nobody remembers anymore.

Unfortunately Mr Captain Acid has unnecessarily cut out 4 bars at the transition between the 2 parts thumbs down.

Okay but which sources did you use? Mr.D's massive leak in lossy format?
In this case your merge is lossy too?

Yes, where else should I have had it from...
But if you believe that the DAC CD is less lossy, here is the properly combined version from there (without missing pieces): [we.tl]

Sorry for my ignorance Wired, you made an earlier post today(2 posts above) with a We.t that you removed. Which of the two do you recommend holding on to? Peace and thanks..smileys with beer

I removed the 1st link because dcba meant it was lossy, so I made the long version again from the (supposedly?) lossless versions on DAC-200.

Who, who says that 'Keep It Cool' from DAC-200s are lossless, they are the same versions as those from Mr. D's
lossy, because they now come from a bootleg name DAC, they are now lossless.
well then ?

I have checked DAC 200 and it is lossless, except first 2 tracks on disc 1, see for yourself.....or check it out yourself

ok, CaptainAcid , but why do both Mr. D and DAC have the same noise and the same sound level ... at Foxe in the Box the 21 min Version the sound is better and different loss-free level, like the others

What leads you to conclude the DAC guys took Mr. D's mp4 files for their releases? Empress Valley did, for their mammoth and terrible 11-cd set, but DAC?

There are obviously several people on this planet who own the complete set of Art Collins files. Therefore it's possible to imagine one of them felt it was now okay to send to Japan a bunch of files (in FLAC or WAV format) that were part of Mr. D's big post here since they were not unreleased/hoarded anymore.

Maybe the OBR boss, after making money off his own Collins files with the "Bird's Vault" triplet decided to make an extra cash by selling the same files he released on his own label, to DAC?

(just speculation, guys). winking smiley

I don't know what software this is you are using to detect lossiness but when I look at the frequency spectrum of all these tracks in Adobe Audition I see that the frequencies of the DAC CD are already cut at around 17 kHz while the original m4a files from Mr. D are cut at around 19 kHz. So the DAC is even lossier and in no way lossless...

Now I go to bed. Good night! grinning smiley
