Can experts confirm that :

- cd1 is a (rather spectacular) rework of Silkcut's tape (that ran quite slow)
- cd2 is a straight copy of the 2013 "The Stars In The Sky They Never Lie - Caution!" 2-cd set?

I can't compare, as my other harddrive is elsewhere, but it does sound quite better than the Hamburg recordings I remembered, so maybe DAC did some great work for once?

As Rank Stranger wrote on Electric Ladyland, JJF is incomplete on the 2nd show, just like the Pignose Release, while it was complete on the TSITSTNL 2CD set - or maybe it was patched there? Haven't listened to that one in many years.

Another marker:

The "The Stars In The Sky They Never Lie" Caution/unnumbered VGP has a dropout
at the end of "Angie", that is neither here nor on the Pignose release.

Info from axl79 on Electric Ladyland:

"1st show.
Mono audience recording.
This is the same sound source as on No-label release " HAMBURG 1973 1ST SHOW".
2nd show.
Mono audience recording. Same source as Pignose CDR release."

Maybe someone ( Erik!?? ) can persuade silkcut1978_ to share his recordings again,
or somebody, who still has the torrents should reupload.

As far as I know silkcut1978_ had posted both Hamburg shows and most Bootlegs use his source.

Here's a repost of the afternoon gig :

[we.tl]

I don't have the evening show from a silkcut's source.

I don't either, unless he shared "Give Me a Hamburger" that had both shows (I don't think so though). Or maybe the Tarantula release used the silkcut version? i did not check yet.

Thanks dcba!

Okay maybe I'm wrong thinking silkcut1978_ also delivered the second show.

So we have 3 sources for the first show:

silkcut1978_
mlejay - if that is a different version at all and not a higher gen tape
the horrible version on my cdr.

What disturbs me a little bit: there is absolutely nothing above 7kHz on silkcut1978_'s tape; this has been mentioned before:

[iorr.org]

Back then I wasn't sure as to whether I really had his version or a bad copy.

TLH test of dcba's upload:

01 intro.wav: track looks like MPEG with probability 90%.
02 brown sugar.wav: track looks like CDDA with probability 43%.
03 gimme shelter.wav: track looks like MPEG with probability 100%.
04 happy.wav: track looks like CDDA with probability 54%.
05 tumbling dice.wav: track looks like MPEG with probability 100%.
06 @#$%&.wav: track looks like CDDA with probability 100%.
07 dancing with mr d.wav: track looks like MPEG with probability 99%.
08 angie.wav: track looks like MPEG with probability 100%.
09 you can't always get what you want.wav: track looks like MPEG with probability 100%.
10 midnight rambler.wav: track looks like MPEG with probability 100%.
11 honky tonk women.wav: track looks like MPEG with probability 100%.
12 all down the line.wav: track looks like MPEG with probability 93%.
13 rip this joint.wav: track looks like MPEG with probability 100%.
14 jumpin' jack flash.wav: track looks like CDDA with probability 49%.
15 street fighting man.wav: track looks like MPEG with probability 100%.
