Feel free to disagree but the 73 tour seems to follow the same pattern as the 75 one : a bunch of very strong energic gigs during its opening (Vienna in 73 or Nola in 75).

Then after a few days the tour kinda slumps into a routine and the gigs become more mellow. Though the band raises the ante on big "markets" (read "major cities") or when the gigs are taped for a future post-tour release (that never came in the case of 73 and 75!).

Just listen to LA 75 and if you think it's mellow or kind of routine, it's that we don't have the same ears.

To a certain extent I agree about 1973, Freddie, even though there are exceptions. Last Bern, one of the Copenhagen shows, Berlin, Antwerp, etc are examples

But I really disagree about 1975. Atlanta, Jacksonville, Philadelphia, 1st Detroit, Milwaukee Memphis, etc etc are not major cities or were especially recorded for anything - yet they are among the best of the tour.

And the NYC shows, which would get a lot of press reports, and therefor very important, they didn't get really get it on before June 26th.

Also - I don't think they didn't "care" or were bored after a while in 1973, but it was a tough time keeping Keith and Bobby Keys on the feet, for Jagger, as the tour and addiction of theirs progressed and became heavier. Must have been nervewrecking for Jagger.

...A 'matrix' is where two or more different sources of a particular show are blended together.

Sounds great.

Unfortunately, I need to point out that Mr. D forgot to include Trevor Lawrence on the artwork inside. sad smiley

Mick clearly introduces him between Steve Madaio and Bobby Keys.

Yes he surely did, or they did. It's real strange how much better two sources can sound when matrixed than they do alone. So there's a beauty of the 2000s.
In the 80s, one had to have 2 turntables, and play let's say "Hold On Tight" and "Discover New York" at the same time - now that would've been a task to co-ordinate. And move the needle a little bit all the time because of speed variations
