The RAREST of the RARE Rolling Stones Songs
Posted by: KevinM ()
Date: May 29, 2020 07:22

Greetings to all the Rolling Stones fans worldwide. This is my 1st post on IORR which I recently found & I'm elated that I did, though I wish I had found it 15+ years ago. Since 1975 (age 4), I've been a hard core Stones fan, collected all the mainstream Vinyl/CD's/Digital '62-'83 + Outtakes/Alternate Takes/Studio Sessions/Demos/some Live & a few imports etc. It is my aim as a collector to have every Stones song '62-'83 in digital format. (though I do have Blue & Lonesome + outtakes/demos of: Forty Licks/Dirty Works/Steel Wheels) + some solo Keef/Mick/Ron!

I've read a few threads here & realize this is the Best place for us Stones fans to share knowledge & extend their legacy to the younger generations. So many of you have amazing insight & I look forward to the discussions.

I would like to ask for your help in finding these elusive tracks, in any Safe & downloadable format is fine. I may need technical guidance on the best way to DL & Extract in other formats, i.e., from FileFactory/WE/Mega.nz. If you have any of these songs, PLEASE provide a link to DL any of them. (Or, if you know any sites they can be found) I thank you in advance & am willing to share whatever I have as well.

Over the last 7+ years, I've compiled a Master List of UBER-RARE Stones songs that I have yet to find anywhere (YouTube & numerous other sources). I cross referenced: Nico Zentgraf Rolling Stones Database & Felix Aeppli's Stones song list & DBBoots Rolling Stones song list along with my own findings. (If you're unfamiliar with any of these, they're worth a good look, along with all the various links to each site).

If the song isn't listed below, I probably already have it...feel free to list any other songs in the thread that aren't already listed in the 3 links above

LEGEND:
A = Live performances--including unrecorded songs & tour rehearsals – or Media appearances; figures in brackets indicate the # of performed versions (X standing=“10 or more”)

#104 Mickey Mouse Blues was released as an ABKCO copyright protection track on YouTube a couple of years ago. It's an early version of "Child of the Moon"

I vaguely remember seeing MM BLues on YT as you mentioned, but I thought the OP was just assigning it a title of his/her own choosing...FFWD a few years & I'm learning the Stones are notorious for multiple titles to the same track, i.e., Misty Roads/The Way She Held Me Tight (another under-rated classic). Is MM Blues that much different that the official 'Child Of The Moon'? Thanks for the info.

Thanks StoneZP, I know some of these are on boots, so whatever I find I'll try to get a FLAC file & share with the group.

Thanks gastonl74, I'm running Windows 7 still & have just read the steps for conversion. However, if FLAC is converted to MP3 is there loss? (probably a stupid question, but I'm just now learning about this stuff).

FLAC is better than MP3 in audio quality but files are bigger too

Yes, I understand this, but I'm asking if there is a loss in the transfer of FLAC to MP3. If there is no loss, then I can just play the FLAC files via Windows Media Player (after a few steps)...at least that's what I read earlier.

@ 43
If you mean the clip from "Charlie is my Darling" you can find it here.

Not only something to hear, but to hear too ;-) Pretty drunk and funny.

#43. Elvis Imitation or Elvis Room / Hotel Jam....from Felix Aeppli's Stones song list. Not sure when/where he meant, but it could be CIMD '66 documentary, good point.

Hello KeviM! welcome!
to transform .FLAC files to MP3
I recommend the Total Audio Converter
Thanks gastonl74, I'm running Windows 7 still & have just read the steps for conversion. However, if FLAC is converted to MP3 is there loss? (probably a stupid question, but I'm just now learning about this stuff).

FLAC is better than MP3 in audio quality but files are bigger too
Yes, I understand this, but I'm asking if there is a loss in the transfer of FLAC to MP3. If there is no loss, then I can just play the FLAC files via Windows Media Player (after a few steps)...at least that's what I read earlier.

Maybe this can help you

Armpit Blues 2:40 = Blues Instrumental(Place Pigalle 2)?

Flirty 4:32, 1982-11-11: Pathé-Marconi Studios = Forty (UnderCover Sessions)?

Blues With Jeff Beck (Slow 12-Bar Blues 1-3) = Freeway Jam/Jeff's Jam ?

Are you referring to the pic of Ronnie & the Jaguar? I'll repost it, b/c it didn't show on my end, only a pic icon displayed.

Thanks for all your tech advice!

EDIT, REPOST: Ronnie & Ma-Tzu @ The Black Jaguar-White Tiger Foundation, Mexico.

If my memory serves me well, it is an instrumental version of the song, not merely the released version minus vocals. Also, it didn't sound at all like the very early takes of Child of the Moon recorded during the Satanic sessions.
I'd never heard it before, and assumed it was done during the early Beggars Banquet sessions.

@ thkbeercan You're really doing a great job jogging my (old) memory! I believe it was an instrumental, now that you mention it.

I do have 2 Child Of The Moon instrumentals on MP3, v1 & v2, 4:19 & 4:18 respectively, with Nicky Hopkins. Though I'm not sure if either is MM Blues?

also there's:
The Rolling Stones - "Child Of The Moon" (Alternate Takes & Demos [1968/1969] - track 01) (1:58)
