Okay .... not good on giving
people advice ... prefer they find out the hard way themselves
BUT probably best you never pick
up Ethan Russell's Let It Bleed Deluxe
and take it down to the beach for a light read .....

Yeah, but most of the Taschen ones are just picture books, which is fine. ATTRS is actually something that needs to be read: I'm surprised there is no ebook.
For the mother of all heavy books...

When the book came out I was very impressed, especially when I read that Charlie Watts was the co-editor. A few years later he said the whole book was rubbish, myths and fabrication and that he was not involved in bringing it out at all. So I am skeptical about it, and I would not recommend it. It contains nice photographs though.

I dunno.
Where did he say that?
I mean there are some great pics. But some nice writing as well.
Essays by people like A. Ertegun, G.Gomelsky,D.Bailey, C. Gibbs, M.Chess,Prince Rupert,Peter Wolf,Don Was,S.Crow, Tim Rice,etc.
It can't be all rubbish.
Those big books. You take a look and often forget reading .Especially when already buying the next one. I went back to it some weeks ago and there is some interesting writing. Of course not all of it.
