Thanks, but I don’t read it as being nr 1, more like being the nr 1 item to have?

Right, sorry. I misunderstood.

Regardless, if that sells for 600 euros, you can expect to get at least that for No. 3.

If you don't have the fake Chinese version it could worth a few hundred USD...

You might want to google this for more info.

There's no such problem with the rarer, second volume of this beautiful set. Not easy to come across one. The Chinese did not make fake copies of the second volume.

I own three sets of the second volume. Two are still sealed. I wouldn't touch the first volume because of the fakes out there.

Did some research, not the chinese fake, found some info on the steve hoffman site, to be 100% sure I have to check if satanic is 3d , but hesitate to tear of the plastic cover

But I’m not really interested in selling, just curious, to inform the kids, I’ m gonna be six feet under someday....

Surely Virgin London doesn’t sell Chinese fake, or do they?

Yep. The fake Chinese versions of Satanic DO NOT come with the 3D cover. So that's going to tell you whether you have a counterfeit or a genuine copy.

Can anyone tell me how to spot a fake set if it is SEALED? The steve hoffman site mentions a few clues, but they are mostly of the colour variations on the outer box. This isn't very helpful when you don't have two copies in your hands that you could compare.

I saw a few pix of a fake one and the zeros in the set number seem to be fatter than on a genuine copy.

I would love to hear your opinions on how to tell if a SEALED set is genuine.

Perhaps someone could post a photo of the outer box of a genuine set. @Theo1954

Sorry ,don’t know how to post a photo.
Opened the box and no 3d..
There’s a picture of the Aftermath cd on the Steve Hoffman forum, exactly the same but instead of

zfpi B100 it says CC309 . Maybe this helps ? Thanks

If you already open the box - check ifpi numbers on the hub.
ifpi B404 or similar clearly point to Chinese origin.

You can check the list of ifpi here
[wiki.redump.org]
and determine the pressing plant/country of origin

Thanks for the photos.

Here's the thing: if your Satanic album DOES NOT have a 3D photo on its cover than you've got a counterfeit version, NOT the genuine Japanese version.

I took a look at your photos and the zeros all look like the fatter zeros on the counterfeit version.

I can't imagine how a counterfeit version ended up in Virgin London...

I've seen IFPI written exactly like the one in your photo and I am 99.9999% sure it is from China.

The Steve Hoffman also mentions Rock & Roll Circus being different (gate-fold vs. single sleeve). Perhaps you could take a look at that too. Let me know what you find.

A fake AC/DC box set also has the same IFPI. It is also from China.
Unfortunately eBay is full of these. The majority of the RS Mono boxes on eBay are from China.

Thank you for the image.
Hate to tell you - it looks like Chinese to me.
There are two things:
1 - ifpi is printed in 'funny' font. That one is typical for Chinese fakes
2 - Barcode. It covers the whole width of the inner mirror band.
It is quite similar to

Usually Japanese SHM CDs have slightly different hub design.
Like this

or

The other thing - EMI Uden/Mediamotion plant was not operational in 2010. The company was dissolved a few years before. In any cases the mould codes were different during the last year of operation.

Mastering SID code:
IFPI LW**

Mould SID code:
IFPI AAH**

Those CC3** codes from musik-sammler... I do not know if that is 100% correct. If you'll follow the link, you'll see that matrix style is different for those Queen CDs. It is not typical for Uden.

Let me dig into my files. Somebody from Russia uploaded the box you have on a tracker with complete set of scans. I need to do a search on old reserve HDD.

Otherwise, we need to find somebody who own a box.
