It helps to go backwards. First, we had stereo, good old left and right speakers. In my opinion, stereo sound, with or without a subwoofer is the best way to listen to music.

Next, we have 2.1 stereo. Same left and right speakers as above but we now have a subwoofer. A subwoofer produces 10% of bass frequencies, thus the .1 designation. A 2.1 system can be a soundbar with a subwoofer or a left and right speaker with a sub.

3.1 is a left and right speaker with a center speaker (for voices) Lots of times, a 3.1 system is a soundbar with a dedicated center speaker.

For this track, here? Not really gonna do much in terms of fidelity, if anything. It's all fluff, in my opinion.

I am happy with 5.1 but love stereo as well.
8.1 ? where does one put the speakers, and not to mention, whom is going to dust them.

The only Atmos rock I've heard is Roger Waters, The Wall, The Beatles Abbey Road and the Stones bluray of R&R Circus...the sound is spectacular on my home theater!

What a ridiculous offer ! In essence poor old ReelStone was tricked into a trade (assuming he didn't process it directly himself using some software) for what is known as a "TOUP", at best, with TOUP = "TOUP = Two Of Us Productions were 2 guys - One of them had the skills to filter instuments etc from a stereo-track and the other one mixed these isolations into DTS 5.1").

The only 5.1 mixes that are worth it are those done with access to the individual tracks (voice, guitars, drums, etc...) and mixed specifically for a 5.1 effect, like we get on "Deluxe Editions" and there is only ONE Stones track that fits that bill so far it's SFTD done in 2003. And even then you need to listen to them on the appropriate system in the "sweetspot". Even for a sucker for that stuff like me it gets old.

Well I suppose ReelStone is here to provide entertainment, so why not !
