Someone may have post something like this before, but if so I missed it, and sorry. Felix Aeppli's site The Ultimate Guide has a track by track break down of these songs. I used it to to identify the "re-releases" with an example of where they came from. If marked as "Art Collins" then it was not previously released.

I did a quick check and it seems like they are correct, but if you find corrections, please post them. Also, there are a few re-released tracks that are more complete and sound better on the Art Collins tapes. I did not mark those and will take a lot more listening. Some of the "new releases" may also be only slightly different edits/EQ, so please point those out if you find them.

terrific, great effort by Felix and you. Thanks a lot. When those tapes were made available i, like assumingly many other members, wondered what is new material and what isn´t. I tried to figure out on some selected songs but comparing the individual takes, coming from different sources and probably differently mixed, was close to impossible. especially if one does not really own all the relevant boots for comparison. and because of lack of time.

so this here is very helpful. one thing though: it would have been perfect if the actual take/version number of the "new" materila had been mentioned (like f.e.

Yeah, that would be nice. The problem is there is not always a consensus what version #1 is compared to #2, #3, etc. Also, when new outtakes are found, sometimes they get renumbered. That is why I always try to cite a universally known bootleg release to confirm a version.

Many people cite Nico's the Complete Works, which is excellent, but sometimes there is now way to tell which version he is referring to. Felix has excellent notes on the versions, but even then, it can be challenging.

In this case, you should not have much trouble using the cd/track number I used - it was taken from the Art Collins version and you can trace it to a "version" there. Example CD 4 TRACK 05: Keep It Cool. The Art Collins download calls it "#1".

The Rolling Stones - Unreleased 1977 'Some Girls' rehearsal & demo cassette tape, from November 15th, 1977 (possibly at the Pathe Marconi Studios in Paris) & on side two Keith Richards & Ronnie Wood demos recorded on the same date.

Provenance: From the collection of Art Collins, who ran Rolling Stones records. He had this in his collection for his personal use. The tape is professionally recorded and has the Stones rehearsing the following songs, 'Miss You, Just My Imagination, Far Away Eyes, When The Whip Comes Down, Start Me Up & Caludine'.
