Post: Oshawa 1979-04-22-2nd from Dime fixed & reworked
Posted by: midnrambler ()

This is the recent Dime upload of the Oshawa 1979-04-22-2nd soundboard.
I have fixed the following:
- speed correction -2,3% as suggested by dcba
- fixed the interruptions (tape flips or whatever) in "I Can Feel The Fire", "Respectable" and "Shattered" by using the audience recording from the Blind Date LP
- new track separation

01 Opening
02 Sweet Little Rock And Roller
03 F. U. C. Her
04 Breathe On Me
05 Infekshun
06 I Can Feel The Fire
07 Am I Grooving You
08 Seven Days
09 Before They Make Me Run
10 Prodigal Son
11 Let It Rock
12 Respectable
13 Star Star
14 Beast Of Burden
15 Just My Imagination
16 When The Whip Comes Down
17 Shattered
18 Miss You
19 Jumpin' Jack Flash

If the trainspotting segment of IORR wonder why JJF is in B flat instead of the usual B, it's because that's how the NB played it in 79.

Maybe Ron couldn't hit these "high" notes and decided to go down a semitone? grinning smiley

Ideally someone should rework the 1st show of the day as it's a much much better performance than this one (despite existing as a g/vg aud tape only).

Methinks Jagger and the boys celebrated the success of the afternoon show a bit too much and took the stage for the late gig completely wasted.
Listen to the XXX new lyrics for "Prodigal Son" from this 2nd show. Jagger is obviously out of it.

I know of one : the Rockin Rott release.
There are a few vinyl releases, I don't know if they're better than RR.
The RR tape is rather clear and decent (think Palladium'78) but it's a nightmare in terms of speed problems.

I would venture to say everybody was on their bloody titz that day. I had one of the shows on tape and Ronnie cannot enunciate when he speaks. I think Mick is at his most irritated at having to do this for free, despite the deal the Stones organization made with Canada [can you say $3,000,000?] to keep our Keef out of prison. And in order to show just how irritated he was, it's my guess he intentionally got on his lips to perform.

I was there, yes, for the second show (tix purchased at a Dominion supermarket in Don Mills, ON), and I didn't catch any irritation from Mick. It seemed like an event for all onstage, with the rehearsal endured in the afternoon. Everybody was goddamned high. At the end, perhaps knowing there was obstructed seating, Mick genially brought Charlie out to the edge of the stage for a bow.

It had to happen.

Either yours or the original Dime upload made it into a bootleg:

No mention of "speed correction" in the sales blurb though. Methinks they used the raw (and faulty) Dime torrent... eye rolling smiley

Don't bother I'm sure DAC-197 is the ultimate version.
And like one IORR member suggested (Wiredallnight?) DAC might have patched the slightly incomplete sb with the "old" audience tape to bring the ultimate release of this (imo rather poor) show.

OT: but rockin' rott is not a label. It's Macman who posted here too.
I had lots of contact with him but he sadly passed away.
Big tape collector. And quite funny.....he purchased 2 of every VGP. Otherwise he wouldn't dare to play it. People sometimes did that with vinyls (me include), but CDs....great guy

I just did a little comparision. DAC did not do anything at all. They just used this upload as it is...

It wasn't poor if you were there - which I was.

It's also the only show of 1979, has an unusual guest lineup on the last two songs, and is historic to boot.

The f-ed up Respectable and the way they roared out of it was exciting to see, similar to the f-ed up Heartbreaker at LA Forum 1975.
