The first show wuz brilliant. The second show was slightly below average. The third show, which Ben Fong-Torres described as 'the breakthrough, the charter flown audiences raved it up...' or some such superlative drug-induced schlub. Mick had laryngitis! And Rolling Stone magazine once again rewrote the old story of the Emperor wearing no clothes...
I know Mick's a professional vocalist and all that but what absolutely leaves me stunned is how he can recover his voice from complete laryngitis and bring it back. This happened a the first Ft. Worth 72 show. He lost his voice during "Rocks Off" and brought it back. At the third Honolulu show he actually can sort of sing by the time "Happy" starts. And the third Chicago 72 show he does the same thing.
