I did use the audio from there for the music. The sound before and after the song is the live camera audio.
Nowadays the announcer wouldn't sound so out of breath from having to actually run a few feet to catch up wiv the flatbed truck. But it was more than a few feet, and it was a sizeable crowd of people, and we're talking The Rolling Bloody Stones announcing their first US tour since entirely annihilating every audience member and many non-audience members three years before.
Oh boy, was Noo Yawk in for the shock of its collective hip life on June 22, opening night of the first of six nights at Madison Square Garden. Many of the crowd had attended at least one of the four Noo Yawk shows in July 1972 and could still feel the euphoria.
And then... this... schlub. The stage opening up, not gracefully, like a dancer or dictator. Not smoothly, like an A380 rotating. More like Michael Jordan emerging from a car crash with rigor mortis tinged wiv arthritis.
And the sound! OY! One reviewer, I forget whom, spent most of her opening night review going over the fascinating details of the stage itself!
The band was obviously caught wiv their clean knickers down. What the F did Mick think he was doing, using the bigger stage in Noo Yawk, without rehearsing it out of town first?

Hey all!
It's been a long time since I gave back to IORR, so here's something I've been playing with. I took some news footage and tried to piece together the Stones tour announcement from 1975. Please do not post on YouTube, etc. This is just for IORR.

The photos from that appearance are so great. It's a shame the whole tour isn't better documented - it was a transitional period between 1969-1973 Stones and the 1977-1978 reinvention.
