Stones Sidesteps: From Alexis Korner To The All Star Band
This is a series of recordings provided by nzb to present the side projects of some of the Rolling Stones (Ian 'Stu' Stewart, Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman), who accompanied and paid tribute to one of the fathers of English blues - Alexis Korner.
Thanks to nzb who provided us his recordings, to Jaap (Stonesmuziekfan) who gave critic and advise regarding my work and to my friend Riccardo (MrNo) who participated to a big part of my collection.

………………………………………………………………………………………….

Volume 01a “Alexis Korner & Friends”
(censored version)

Part1:
12th July 1962: BLUES INCORPORATED. UK radio (BBC Light) ‘Jazz Club’, London,
Paris Theatre. Producer: Terry Heneberg.
Line-up: Charlie Watts (dr)/Alexis Korner (gtr, voc)/Cyril Davies (voc, harm)/Dave Stevens (p)/Jack Bruce (string bass)/Dick Heckstall-Smith (sax)
01 -introduction
02 - Hey Hey (Alexis Korner?)
03 - band introduction
04 - Spooky But Nice (Cyril Davies)
(infos taken from The Rolling Stones Complete Works Database by Nico Zentgraf
[nzentgraf.de]).
Note: “Hoochie Coochie Man” coming from this show was published on the “Bootleg Him”-album, so it can't be presented here.
I duplicated the channel to get a more intense sound and I also upgraded the beginning and the end of the session.

Part2:
19th April 1978: ALEXIS KORNER & FRIENDS. Iver Heath (near London), Pinewood Studios. Note: Aired on an unknown date (late 70's or early 80's).
Line-up: only 1 song with STU(p) and Bob Hall(p): «Pinetop's Boogie Woogie» (Clarence 'Pinetop' Smith).
05 - Blue Monday
06 - Pinetop’s Boogie Woogie
07- Got To Get You Off My Mind
(infos taken from The Rolling Stones Complete Works Database by Nico Zentgraf
[nzentgraf.de]).
Taken from a very good quality radio broadcast, aired in two parts (with comments by Alexis Korner).
Note: 11 of the 14 tracks of this program were published on «The Party Album» (Universal Music) in 1980 and cannot be presented here.
These tracks are coming from the complete show tapes.
I deleted the gaps between the tracks and rearranged the transitions. I also amplified the sound (from 0,6 to 1db).

With regards to the two Blues Inc tracks from "Band Beat" in July 1962, the original liner notes for the CD "Alexis Korner The BBC Sessions"were incorrect when they credited Charlie with playing the drums. The drummer was, in fact, Graham Burbidge.

perhaps that you're right: it appears this way in the official cd liner notes and on Nico's site and I got not other source.

Nico has updated his site.
620700A July: BLUES INCORPORATED. UK radio (BBC) ‘Band Beat’, London.
- Built For Comfort (Willie Dixon)
Line-up: CW (dr; unsure)/Alexis Korner (gtr)/Long John Baldry (voc)/Ronnie
Jones (voc)/Jack Bruce (bass)/Keith Scott (p)/Dick Heckstall-
Smith (sax)/Cyril Davies (harm)
Note: Released on the CD Alexis Korner ‘The BBC Sessions’ in 1994 (see
941100A). Built For Comfort is misnamed as Everything She Needs.
The liner notes of this album list CW, but it is possible that the
drummer is in fact Graham Burbidge!

941100A November: ALEXIS KORNER.
CD ‘The BBC Radio Sessions’ (Music Collection International MCCD 179).
Producers: Mark White (1962-tracks), Jeff Griffin (1983-tracks). Incl.
- Built For Comfort (Willie Dixon) -by Blues Inc. 1962; under title Everything
She Needs
- Bring It On Home To Me (Sam Cooke) -by Alexis Korner & Friends 28.4.83
- Money Honey (Jesse Stone) -by Alexis Korner & Friends 28.4.83
Line-up 'Built For Comfort': CW (dr; unsure)/Alexis Korner (gtr)/Long John
Baldry (voc)/Ronnie Jones (voc)/Jack Bruce (bass)/Keith Scott (p)/
Dick Heckstall-Smith (sax)/Cyril Davies (harm)
Line-up 1983-tracks: CW (dr)/BW (bass)/Georgie Fame (p)/Alexis Korner (gtr,
voc)/Nico Korner (gtr)/Ruby Turner (voc)/Jaki Graham (voc)/Dick
Heckstall-Smith, Willie Garnett & John Picard (horns)
Note: The album's credits also list CW as drummer on (Night Time Is) The Right
Time. But this is highly unlikely. Also it is possible that the drummer on
Built For Comfort is in fact Graham Burbidge and not CW.
