Question - Firefox/Wetransfer problem
Posted by: syrel ()

Is anyone else having trouble using WeTransfer on Firefox? I have used it for years without problem then, last week, every time I try to open a WT link in FF, FF hangs (and increases its memory usage to all available memory). WT links working fine using Chrome, so just a FF problem.

Anyone experiencing similar?
Anyone have a solution?

thanks

syrel

Right now,I am using FireFox 52.1 with a Linux operating system without any plug-ins other than the H264 video plug-in.

WeTransfer links work fine under this set-up.

So maybe you're using an older, deprecated version of FireFox ?? Or,it could be a sign of an underlying problem with your operating system.

Maybe it could be Java related. I don't know. Hard to say. On other computers,I have the Iced-Tea plug-in added to FireFox to deal with java. However,as I said,I am not using it right now on this computer and FireFox works fine for WeTransfer.

The solution ????? Not the optimal solution.

Google Chrome is one of the worst browsers out there for security.

Other than general security,Google Chrome sends data of its users to Google.

If you are going to go with a Chromium-based browser for WeTransfer, you would be better off to use the Chromium Browser itself or Slim-Jet.

Even better, get the Iridium Browser (security increased Chromium) or get FireFox or a FireFox based browser working.

Google Chrome is only useful .... as opposed to other browsers (both based on Chromium and not based on Chromium) in a couple of specialized situations such as watching NetFlix (I personally don't) or viewing other copy-protected content or using a Chrome device.

Otherwise,there are better options.
