Question about: "The Super Hit Collection Of The Rolling Stones"
Posted by: coowouters ()

Hi all,

While going through a pile of discs, I found this little box with 3 CDs (still shrink wrapped, although the wrap, not the box, has a hole on the front side).
On one side, I can see the 3 CDs and they have the following mention:
BRS 84270, BRS 84271 and BRS 84272.
There's no other indication of who made this.
The CDs have the following titles: "The Rolling Stones", "More Rolling Stones" and "Rolling Stones Get Off Of My Cloud".

I would appreciate it if someone could tell me a little more about this box, or where I can find some info.

Here are scans of the box. Click on the thumbnail for a larger image.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you!!!
So it IS from a bootleg label, nothing official.
It seems that this label only made a few (Stones) bootlegs (or is dbboots missing some?)

Those bootlegers must be magicians.
[dbboots.com]
Excellent Stereo Studio recordings. Official Released Tracks in Stereo, except track 15 in Mono.
In what universe Route 66 (1964-01-03: Regent Sound Studios, London, UK, Studio Session), Under The Boardwalk, Off The Hook and You Better Move On were issued in stereo?
I believe they just copy and paste (maybe with some EQ modifications) versions of the official tracks either from old London (West German/Japanese) editions or early ABKCO remaster from 1986. In any case I would not expect anything very interesting.

So there's another one.
Something else; looking at e-bay, it seems people are selling the CDs apart, not as a box.

BRS stands for Beatles Rolling Stones,
around 20 releases 1989/1990.

brs-releases

Back then those releases were legal and were sold in stores like Media-Markt, Saturn and even drugstores in Germany and Austria. In 1990 copyright ended 25 years after the first release of a song. But this was kind of a twilight zone (like Swingin' Pig) and later the copyright act was changed. Now it's 50 years with a few additional specifications.

So I wouldn't call them bootlegs.
