Can anyone recommend a reliable, possibly free audio converter that can convert a CD to Flac, from WAW to Flac etc.?

I am using WINDOWS 10.

I've been using AVS Audio Converter 6, but I just realized that there's an extremely loud noise between each track on all the CD's I have ripped, so some of the music are basically unusable.

I know many of you are experienced archivists, so I would really appreciate a few recommendations. Chris? Any suggestions?

Rips CDs accurately and saves the files also as FLAC.

WAV-to-FLAC conversion:

If you're familiar with the command line, it's very easy with eac3to.

Command line example: eac3to source.wav destination.flac


For Apple Mac is XLD (X Lossless Decoder) a very good FLAC-Converter.

If you stick with Windows 10,the way to go is "Audacity" or "Audacity Nightly Build(s)" or "Switch".

Those programs can convert audio with or without compression.

Just pay attention to where you get the software from.

"Trader's Little Helper" should work with Windows 10 too, it's a freeware!

I haven't got Windows 10 ( yet? ), but I have worked with TLH for years now, never had a problem!
