I have used lplex and it works for me.
Hi Edwin, do you mean you've converted to 16 bit?.....if that's right, is there any chance you could upload it here........I've tried every which way and only get 2 seconds of stattic...........
There are a dozen of tools which can convert 24 bit to 16/44.1 redbook format.
I've tried wavosaur which usually works but I'm loathe to download others I don't know about on the off chance because so many contain added malware etc......

The easiest answer which will work basically regardless of your set-up is 'Audacity' which has versions for Windows , Linux , and Apple Mac.
'Switch' also works on Windows but may contain added stuff (not necessarily malware but probably adware or trial-ware which should be removable).
K3B burning software will do the conversion automatically if you select "CD Audio" for the burning project.
"SOX" also works for this purpose using a command terminal.
I would just pay attention to the source of the software. If you choose "Audacity" .... maybe get it from their official web-site (if not a reputable, trusted software repository).

Heard the flac, and thanks for it, but the mix sounds flat, dull, compressed. Some of this may have been effects of the various programs it was run through. Maybe a straight transfer of the LPs would have been better. Sorry to be a downer.

Sorry folks but your work consists in cutting all the sound. The official has everything (piano very clear on GIMME SHELTER) with everyone everything and deep sound with bass, drums.
your version is thin and lacks many things of the musical message.
No one but the Stones can provide the good sound from the original masters.

Clearmountain is an employee - he does what he is told to do.
He could do brilliant sounding crisp clear guitar-heavy mixes but there is one guy who won´t let him... the guy who thinks that the non-perfect moments of a Stones-performance to some extent can be hidden in muddy sound.
Thanks to Kevin for trying to give us a more realistic impression of the Stones-sound in 1973.
