Rolling Stones & Dave Matthews Memory Motel

Hi

Does somebody have a good quality version of the 1998 duet between The Stones and Dave Matthews.
I only can find this 240p video with bad audio from youtube: [www.youtube.com]
Was it part of a live CD/Dvd?
Great Song, great version!

Aron

Officially released on No Security (audio).

It was on the album "No Security" released in 1998 but is currently off catalogue.
The Stones website has been saying that it would be re-released "next year" for about four years now.
You can probably still find it if you shop around.

Agree, just his name alone on it brings it down several notches.

Horribly. We got it three times in Amsterdam 98 as "ballad of the day" with him (and once without him). Without him in town I had heard two or even three different rare ballads in Amsterdam. Fortunately on the last show they scipped the guests spot - and I got my only Sister Morphine version.

I'll take it over Christina Aguillera on Live with Me.

Once upon a time I thought of the Stones as being too good to have guest stars. After all, they were so much better than everybody else. Clapton seemed worthy enough in 1989 but he was the exception. Then they started this annoying habit of letting artists far below their own standard share their stage on a regular basis. Memory Motel from No Security would be a great live track without DM. Now, of course they've had everyone from Taylor Swift to Katy Perry on with them. They are The Rolling Stones. They don't need the extra baggage of guest stars. They just dilute an otherwise great performance.

I agree, they don't need a guest appearence, they're the best. But I can appreciate some of their performances with other artists: Jack White, Muddy Waters, Solomon Burke, Buddy Guy, Lisa Fischer (if that's a guest)..

There have been some exceptions to my dislike of guest stars. The old blues guys get an obvious pass as they inspired the Stones. On another note, Mick is such a great front man he tends to eclipse most guest stars. I do have to say that he and Sheryl Crow had a good chemistry the times she guested.

Never understood why Keith didn't handle his vocals on this

Angus and Malcolm were great (smiling bouncing smiley ) !!!

Saw Rock Me Baby in Oberhausen 2003.

Dave Matthews was rubbish on Memory Motel in Amsterdam 1998. Lousy opening act too.

Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga are as big as the Stones, if not bigger at the moment. At least commercially.

He did. What do you mean? Matthews did Mick's verses.

The key word in your comment is "commercially." Artistically, they're not even in the same cosmos. smiling smiley

Dave Matthews sings like he has a bar of soap stuck in his mouth.
He ruined what could have been a great live version...similar to what Axl Rose did with Salt of the Earth. thumbs down

Thank God that annoying habit never has appeared in Europe.

I think Leipzig 2003 was the only European show prior 2012 show with two guests, half of AC/DC and Crissie Hynde.

( same concert, but complete on Zitrock and WOW labels)
