Who has this version of Buenos Aires, 1998?
Posted by: eduardoacdc ()

I've digging into all of the audio and video bootleg releases of this show on march 30, 1998. All of them have got the audio from one unic source, which is taken from the TV broadcast in Argentina/Uruguay (yes the audio is the same).

BUUUT, I found that there is another source for the same concert which is different from the one we know ("Bridges to Argentina" for example). In this case the audio is taken from the local radio station called "Rock N Pop".

You can see the difference because during most of the recording of previous sources, keith's guitar is very low in the mix and one can hardly listen to him, but this version I'm talking about has both guitars at the same level.

You can compare both versions by listening to 19th nervous breakdown:

(Radio broadcast)

(TV broadcast)

Now my question is:

Does anybody has a complete version of the radio broadcast recording?
I'd really like to listen to it.

Many thanks in advance

Well, I ever wanted but never could get the "Rock & Pop" FM source, I mean not what was live broadcasted but what the radio operator and dj's have got in his personal vaults (without that over talking and added sound effects). I know for sure they have it because they have said so. I've listened to this radio sation for more than 20 years since it started. So the chances are small but they exist.

Taken from the info file of MfG-40:

Soundwise the best source is "Bridges to Argentina", supposed to be from the radio broadcast.
Unfortunately this CD sounds sometimes like being taken from a badly tuned radio station so its not usable for the complete show.

Bridges to Argentina wasn't taken from the radio broadcast, but the TV recording.

You can tell by the announcements in between songs on the radio recording.

I know, thanks for the info. I'll download the dvd anyway. Maybe the multi channel track includes both tv and radio audio. My only references until now are the videos uploaded out there...

the TV broadcasst had a lot of talking of DJs into parts of the songs, which is missing on the CD, so conclusion is, that the sources for the CDs are none of the TV broadcasts.

I ripped MfG-40, separated tracks (and eliminated glitches) with Audacity.
So if you're interested to hear just the audio, here it is, with many thanks to Falo for the MfG release!

Wetransfer link valid until August 9th:

Thanks Chris! I just gave a quick listen to some songs. Seems that the audio is taken from the tv broadcast, but I noticed that the actual cd of Bridges to Argentina sounds clearer than the dvd rip in spite of having been taken from the same source.

I'm starting to feel confused confused smiley

From these two offerings, the top one (radio) is much better sound but that dumb ass talks over the song!

Listening to "1998.03.30 River Plate Stadium, Buenos Aires, Argentina [DSP Remaster] source Bridges To Argentina", the first thing I noticed is that Gimme Shelter is complete. On the DVD of the TV broadcast, the announcer is talking through the first 30 seconds of the song. Not on this CD.

Yes, that one has the complete show. There are still missing some things like the intro to She's a rainbow and you don't have to mean it.

Btw I noticed that there is another release "Magnifico, Argentina" which, according to dbboots it could be an Ald recording.

Can it be reuploaded? As the link on the archive is broken. Just to see if iris a different source for real.

exilestones,

THANKS for the FileFactory link!

But this release still sounds MONO to me.

I believe that there was a broadcast in Uruguay with STEREO audio but does anyone have it??

Would love to hear, "She's A Rainbow" in stereo.
