In 1982 the J. Geils Band played before The Stones in the European Tour. Anyone has any CD/DVD to share of this GREAT Band in this year?

I promoted a J Geils show in-between those dates. They were on fire on-stage and could not have been nicer people, from roadies to manager to band, off-stage.

And they still sound great.

Fairly similar to the "Showtime" album, no?

Saw them December 19, 1981 at the Uptown Theater with a long-time fan.

The late-career success of Freeze Frame and the "Centerfold" single clearly energized them, as my buddy said it was the best show he'd seen since their mid-seventies heyday.

As a relatively recent convert, I of course loved the show and had to admit they were a formidable live band. It's a shame it took so long for their records to catch up to their stage work.

I perfectly remember this day cause i taped the J. Geils Band show in the afternoon, then i drove to Reggio Emilia to see the Rick Lee Jones show that was starting at 11 pm due to the soccer final Italy against Germany....then the day after i went back to Torino to tape the Rolling Stones.
This is a really nice performance......

Peter Wolf tells The Insider that the group has scotched Rhino Records' plans to put out the two-CD set, which was slated to feature both of the April 21-22, 1972 shows at Detroit's Cinderella Ballroom from which the original 1972 album was culled. Wolf says that the new release "wasn't authorized by us. What we did was pick the best stuff of the two evenings...They were calling it 'Full House,' and we responded by saying, 'Wait a second. First of all, it would be nice if you'd contact us for consideration, artistically. Second of all, it's not 'Full House.' This is not even the original album; it was just from those evenings. To call it 'Full House' is extremely misleading. And to not even ask for our participation and move forward without our participation is just very artistically insulting. So it's been nixed." Neither Wolf nor Rhino would indicate if negotiations are continuing to release the package.

Great find! I was at that show the next day (18th). George Thorogood & Delware Destroyers, J Geils, then the Stones. Would love to find a sound recording from the 18th.
