Following "The Fabulous Cuts" new outtakes last week, here's another!

I love 'Undercover' and wished to hear the extended version of 'She Was Hot' for ages (to add with the excellent 12" mix of 'Undercover of the Night' and the dub instrumental 'Feel on Baby').

The DJ voiceover version of 'She Was Hot' is quite distorted; a kind fellow poster sent me this - maybe many of you already have it, but if not, here it is in quite perfect sound quality.

I added it to ipod with the Undercover/Feel On 12" to make a cracking 3 track extended EP!

Hearing this was such a wonderful surprise! It almost has a live feel to it, esp. during the coda. And Mick's vocals are among his best. The lyrics are clever after the fashion of Let It Bleed. And the mix? Ne plus ultra!!!

This started circulating (at least months) ago. Any idea where it came from?

Define "circulating" ;-) It was first mentioned here at least a year ago (possibly early 2013 actually) by Mathijs, chances are it had been "traded" for a while before that. If anything the radio that broadcasted it in 1983 in the US had it.

Anyway I don't think it really matters where it came from, as for other unknown outtakes that will hopefully continue to surface, if anything, being too curious might make owners of these unknown outtakes more wary to let them out...

It matters to me. As far as I am aware, the only version available on bootleg is the voice over version. Is this version also on a bootleg or did it come from another source (if anyone knows). If it's a secret, I don't see how this information affects anything. I'm not asking for posts just information.

It's not on an existing bootleg, no. IrelandCalling4 (he had posted a request last week [www.iorr.org] and I uploaded the "DJ version" ) said he got it from "a kind fellow poster", what is there to add?

From an early version leaked to a DJ in 1983, this thread has all the info about that's known to...man, well at least to Stones' fans [www.iorr.org] ;-)

I'm not sure if "leaked" is the proper term. This was given to radio stations as an official promo for the song to the best of my knowledge.

The same was done for "Undercover Of The Night" which I FINALLY shook loose a copy of out here a few years ago. Here is a link to that thread:

What is amazing to me is that I have never heard/seen ANY reference to either recording in any kind of collector's list/book etc. in ANY format.

My assumption is that these were produced and distributed to radio stations on tape cartridges. If these were on vinyl they would have ended up somewhere in collector's circles/auctions.

How limited they were I do not know. But both songs are completely different mixes/versions than ANY other known to exist anywhere.

The thread I linked mentioned that different mix of UOTN and linked it but it had lots of DJ voice overs though, is that the one you have or is it a "clean" version like the SWH that was posted here ?

Not "clean." But only version I know to be out there at all. Sorry I missed the link.

Does it deserve to be on your original list?
(Sorry, a little self interest here. Unearthing this ranks as one of my top 3 contributions. The other two being identifying the snippet of "Sweet Black Angel" on the 1972 Dallas rehearsals, and identifying "My Home Is A Prison" as one of the songs on the 1968 Surrey rehearsals tape)


As I listened to the "Undercover Of The Night" promo again this evening, it appears to be a very different mix of the eventually released version. The intro/outro are different as well, but it appears to be roughly the same timing as the official version.

These are listed in TUG. They are also on a WLR box set (with DJ overdubs).
