As described on dbboots - "[Considerably better source than previously circulated VGP-045 "Greatest Dane" - IT"S UTTER NONSENSE!!!
Sound is much worse than on Greatest Dane. Don't be fooled!]

Greg I have Greatest Dane VGP -045 so I will give it a check - but even without checking I noticed that 'Greatest Dane' sleeve say's the 2nd show ? but dbboots is listing it as the first?.Or are we just comparing the recordings between the 2 shows?.

Ok I have done a quick skip though of this recording. Here is what I found

1] MJ's comments are the exact same as the VGP - 045 release.
2] Only 13 tracks on my download - Missing YCAGWYW.

IMO this is the same show as GREATEST DANE - VGP045 so it would be the 2nd show if sleeve notes on GREATEST DANE are correct.

Sound wise I would agree with Greg44 - my preference would be GREATEST DANE.
but each to their own.

If anyone else can add anything then that would be most welcome.

Zagalo thanks for posting I have added it to my collection.

From the HC torrent :

"This is an alternate source to VGP-045 "Greatest Dane" or Shaved Disc "Grateful Grateful Copenhagen" (disc 2). It sounds much better and clearer.
Thanks you VERY MUCH to perjak and to the taper !!!

According to the taper, this show has been played at 5 p.m and, according to perjak's research, the second show has been played at 9 p.m. It means the "Dancing With Mr. D" show isn't the 2nd but the 1st show. Same for the "Heartbreaker" show which is finaly the 2nd, not the 1st"

Anyway, thank you!

From Nico Zentgraf's site (and I believe him):

731007A 7th October: Copenhagen, Denmark, Brondby-Hallen (1st show)
(Brown Sugar/Gimme Shelter/Happy/Tumbling Dice/Star Star/Dancing
With Mr. D./Angie/You Can’t Always Get What You Want/Midnight
Rambler/Honky Tonk Women/All Down The Line/Rip This Joint/
Jumping Jack Flash/Street Fighting Man)

731007B 7th October: Copenhagen, Denmark, Brondby-Hallen (2nd show)
(Brown Sugar/Gimme Shelter/Happy/Tumbling Dice/Star Star/Doo Doo
Doo Doo Doo/Angie/You Can’t Always Get What You Want/Midnight
Rambler/Honky Tonk Women/All Down The Line/Rip This Joint/
Jumping Jack Flash/Street Fighting Man)

So Greatest Dane VGP 045 is the first show and not the second one, despite the (wrong) artwork VGP delivered.

PS: I prefer this new upload to Greatest Dane VGP045

Thanks. DCBA, was Europe 73 supposed to be so crowded w/dates & 2 shows a day? Seems brutal. Or was the demand for tickets so great they just kept adding shows? If you check Copenhagen & Goteberg - 2 shows in each city 2 consecutive days. Four shows in 2 days - no wonder they sounded phoned in sometimes. Lack of sleep kills inspiration.

Hi!
The first show is the one where Jagger do`nt sing the first seconds of Brown Sugar.
I was at both shows, and when Brown Sugar startet, I could`nt hear what the heck was going on - it was just a big explosions (it sounded like that - allmost). First when Jagger started singing I could hear it was BS.So I know for 200% sure, that this is the first show.
Btw.: the loudest concerts I ever heard, not only by The Stones. My ears was ringing for 2 weeks!!

cheers

Me too, for sure. Of course the torrent/CDR above has not been EQd or compressed, maybe that's why some posters above "prefer Greatest Dane" ?

This show has this lineage:

JJ's master cassette (standard tape) -> good SONY cassette tapedeck, demagnetized and cleaned pb-head -> SBM-1 @ 48 kHz -> iRiver H140 -> hard drive -> Sound editor (very little eq, normalizing, no compression, converted to 44,1 kHz) -> track split -> TLH -> you

I borrowed JJ's scrap-book and scanned newspaper cut's and ticket for the artwork.

JJ was at the time an apprentice with little money. He ONLY attended the early show. Period.

The lack of money from being an apprentice is also the reason that he used a standard tape, and not a hq or chromedioxide.

As far as I remember from the proces some years ago, JJ was a little late on the RED rec-button, Therefore the first few seconds of BS are 'stolen' from one of the other releases winking smiley

/p

The one to compare against this source is not VGP-045 Greatest Dane, it's DAC-084, Danish Brew. I am sure DAC used this new source, and they did a good job with it IMHO.

I checked the DAC-084.

It is obvious, that DAC uses the JJ source for the first show.

Before BS they mix in the full intro/announcement from another source, where I only mix in a few seconds of crowd and music.

Where JJ flip cassette between MR and HTW, DAC mix in the full break from the other source. As no music is missing on the JJ source, I only smoothened the transition.
